Panic to Power...the Five Year Experience!!!!
Deedee,
Thank you so much for your post I will remember what you have said and it means so much to me that you would take the time to tell me your experience and that I am not alone. Yesterday and today I was ready to give up hope and just stay in the darkness in bed, but I am going to listen to you and work through it and try to remember it won't hurt me and to try to let it go. Thank you so much you have no idea how much that means to me.
God bless you
Mimi

Jack,
I'm facing some stressful challenges lately and anxiety symptoms have reappeared. I'm very familiar with and grateful for your story and have come back to read it repeatedly to gain some much-needed inspiration.
Sometimes we just get off track, but reading your post really helps get me right back in line with healthy coping mechanisms. A crucial thing I've learned from you is to focus less and less on the symptoms during my "practice opportunities." When I pay less attention to symptoms, they are not nearly as severe as they used to be. I still struggle a bit occasionally, but I can honestly say that those intervals of suffering are greatly reduced compared to years ago.
It's expected, and Lucinda stresses this on the tapes, that from time to time we will face situations that test out emotional resolve. I'm happy to say that your story is an integral part of my healing toolbox.
Thanks so much, once again, for sharing it.

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for replying. These 'stressful challenges' that you refer to are the root of why we all are here. I'm sure you've heard of 'sleep debt.' Well I am a strong believer in the concept of 'stress debt.' We can only encounter so much stress until we are mentally bankrupt. Enduring setback after setback after setback sooner or later will impact all of us on this level that we share. Some of us can obviously tolerate more than others.
Elimination of symptoms requires the elimination of stressors - even if it means at the expense of a temporary lifestyle change. It took me three months to pay back my stress debt. This three months involved changing my lifestyle 180 degrees, making me #1 and catering specifically and exclusively to my needs (i.e. what my mind and body were telling me.) Fortunately, my symptoms responded favorably to this approach - and I wish you the same success as you battle your symptoms.
Happy holidays to you!
Jack
