Hi All - Usually when I am stuck in traffic (as a driver and passenger) I get really freaked out and very angry.

This past weekend my husband and I went to a concert, which is only 1 1/2 hours away, but it took 3 1/2 due to concert traffic.

I can honestly say that I didn't get anxious or angry sitting in the car for so long.

Baby step, I know, but am happy!

Congrats. I wouldn't call that a baby step, I'd call that a big step! You were driving a distance to get there plus tack on the 2 extra hrs for traffic. Nice job.

I too think this was a big step. Nice work. Can you identify what was different for you this time. Did you find that some of what you have learned on the tapes was helpful. I have been much more mellow and relaxed since working with the tapes and am in the middle of Session 5.

Congrats, ebnb! That is awesome! I agree with CI822 - that is way more than a baby step! Good for you!

Thank you for all of your support! I'm on week 2 and I think that knowing I'm not alone, breathing exercises, and relaxation cd are a big help. I'm hoping that is why I didn't wig out in the car. I really love this program. I know I'll keep going back to it for a long time after I've finished.
Thanks again.

One thing that helps me in traffic is to repeat what Lucinda says, to say to yourself...
Lines, traffic, crowds and waiting, doesn't bother me. I don't mind spending time being patient, There really is no emergency.
This even helped my husband who had a problem with waiting in these situations, but didn't really have other symptoms of anxiety.
