karmaberry I really like what you wrote about being happily indifferent or indifferently happy. I sure can relate to that! It's a great sense of freedom to feel that, isn't it? Wouldn't that be a great signature tagline!

Well, last night I ate like a pig. Of course everything I ate was full of salt, so I feel kind of bloated this morning. I really should bundle up and go for a walk. It's cold out today and the air would probably do me a lot of good.......yep a walk would be good............Now it's snowing out. I guess this means I need to put those reolutions into gear now.

How was New Year's with your mom ? Did you manage to stay awake until midnight ?

i'm starting to think mama and i couldn't PAY someone to spend new year's eve with us LOL x forever!!!!! we spent the evening alone with a big fire watching "gone baby gone". did i already post that? i'm thinking i did? HA

today it was in the 40's with winds at 16 mph. i got my 18 year old nephew to walk with me and the boys (aka my dogs) on the river walk so i could just do one long walk with both dogs instead of two semi-long walks. i thought i was overdressed UNTIL the wind started. geez it was cold! i finally got tired of trying to initiate a conversation with nephew - he's obviously a mute when it comes to talking to family LOLOLOLOL and it's not even that he's embarrassed by me - he's just quiet. where he gets that from i have no clue!

mama came over late this afternoon with food. since i won't turn on the heat she feels i should eat. we did yet another fire and watched a bit of football. my sister called and i told her it was a balmy 50 degress in the hallway - IF i was reading the temp correctly through the ice forming on my eyes.

i'm glad to be going back to work monday. why is this? because it's not supposed to get out of the 30's next week and with this heating issue i have going on at least i'll be where it's warm. i use an electric heater for my bed and bath rooms instead of heating this big drafty house. how's that working for me? well so far, i'm the only one in the family who's not had strep or a bad cold this year. germs can't live in this environment LOL what can i say - i think i'm funny.

back to work. it's a mall thing. i'm indifferently happy or happily indifferent about going in. i'm good at what my job and have so many people i love/like/enjoy being with on an emotional level - they are my friends.

well the first day of the new year was wonderful - a walk in the sunshine with my nephew and the boys, then a big fire in the fireplace for mama and me. life is good!!!!

I would LOVE for it to be in the 40's here ! Right now it's 19 deg F. BUT with the wind chill it's 10 deg F. I didn't end up going for my walk today, but I rode on the exercise bike in the house. It's supposed to be colder tomorrow but sunny. If I put on 4 shirts, 3 pairs of pants, 6 coats, 4 hats, 2 pairs of gloves and a real thick pair of boots, I could go for my walk tomorrow. I should start getting dressed now.

I'm not thinking about work until my alarm goes off Monday morning. I still have 2 whole days off !

I live in a drafty house too. It was built in 1927. It's a nice house, but needs more insulation. For some reason people in 1927 felt it was a good idea to shove newspapers in the walls for insulation. Winters must've been real warm in the 1920's.

You going for your walk today is motivation enough for me to go for my walk tomorrow.

.....I can't wait........

your house was built in 1927? no way! my house was built the same year! that is so bizarre. i love old houses - always have.

insulation? it's something i've heard of but not encounted here LOL there is no insulation under the house keeping the cold air coming through the wood floors LOL

on the most positive side, i found a pair of daddy's old long johns - and honey, they flat out rock!!! lol x forever

i crawled under the house with a friend so we could look at my furnace last month and thought about how much it would cost to just do it myself! hence, i've done nothing LOL

I'm fortunate enough that I have a basement. The furnace is down there and it keeps the floors warm. Unfortunately, there was an addition built on the back of the house with a woodburning fireplace. The thing in that fireplace that keeps the cold air out is broken. It can get rather chilly in that room.

It's Sunday now and I have the "going back to work blues" today! LOL I will keep some sort of positive attitude going as best as I can. I will not ruin a perfectly good Sunday worrying. Who knows what this year will bring anyway. The sun is shining outside, but with the wind chill factor, it's about 5 deg F. I thought it was supposed to be warmer today, but it's even c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-colder than it was yesterday ! Time to bundle up and stay warm !
