When ever I get scary thoughts, I get very angry just for even thinking them. It really ruins my day. I know when it starts happening, it usually starts after I finished socializing with someone, then i start thinking. "What if the first thought I think when I'm about to start talking to someone would be negative?" (Like maybe hurting them) It gets really irritating, because I would never do such a thing. Please Help

Hi Mark:

SO what if your first or second or last thought is scarey. I think we have to adopt that attitude. So What...they are only thoughts. I've had so many scarey thoughts and Boon once wrote to me to just let them sit there...not to fight them. Getting upset with them is a form of fighting. They are just thoughts...only thoughts and the fact that you are upset by them and not comforted by them tells you that they are not real and that you will not hurt anyone. I think the idea of "floating" is to allow the thoughts to be there, experience them...but don't be upset by them. Reconginze them for what they are ... only thoughts and continue your conversation. THe less you make of them,,,the quicker they will disappear and eventually you won't even notice them. Believe me...I know how horrible they can be and loud and intrusive....but we are taught to just allow them to be there...give permission to having them...know you are OK and that they will pass. I was also told that scarey thoughts are part of the anxiety and anxiety is only excess adrenelin. It's another way for the anxiety to manifest itself...so work on the thoughts the same way you work on the physical anxiety...ACCEPT THEM, FACE THEM, FLOAT WITH THEM, DON'T FIGHT THEM. Good luck. I hope this helps some.
