I have scary thoughts and trouble with swallowing. I am having a hard time eating and drinking because I feel like I can't swallow and I might choke. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome this fear. I got the program 2 years ago and am going thru it for the 2nd time now, hoping it will help. Carolyn said on the 2nd tape that she had this probelm, but never really told how she overcame it?

Hi Jean D
I know what you are talking about--- & I think it happens to us because we think about it too much! LISTEN TO CD #2, & practice w/ the RELAXATION CD at least 3x daily. Eventually, your mind will calm your body down. I use to have this problem of being afraid of choking and embarrassing myself.! I could actually picture it happening!
The next time it happens- take a DEEP BREATH and hold it, hold it, then release it slowly thinking- "It's just my anxiety it can't hurt me" & take ease because myself & my friends who suffer from anxiety & depression ALSO have the same fear of swallowing...!! It's common I guess! Relax with it, the people around you have fears also!! ~Vicki

My sister had the EXACT thing 2 years ago, she lost a lot of weight and she thought this will stay with her forever, DR gave her meds, but then she discovered that nothing can help her out but to focus her mind, she felt she will suffocate if she drinks or eats, and that happened exactly after her home was stolen and she felt insicure, then she started healing herself drug free, she started eating small bits and pieces, slowly she came back and now we are begging her to do diet lol.
she laughs back at herself, although she felt that her life was hell, but now she is great.
Im sure you will do the same.
rock on
