I started the program like a week and a half ago. I skipped quickly through the first session because I'm a psych major and know plenty about this disorder and the chemicals that get released during panic.

I'm now on the second week and I feel terrible. More anxious than ever, tired, discouraged. I think reading and listening about panic attacks makes me panic.

I recently stopped taking birth control after 4 years because I leanred estrogen overload can cause anxiety, so that may contribute.

Does anyone have any kind words or encouragement? I feel like this is a never ending battle that I have to endure every single day.

This can be typical. I associate this as being similar to seeing a counselor on the first visit. There are so many emotions, feelings, and thoughts, you want to share and the first few sessions are more foundational. Give it time!

Best wishes...

Hang in there!
It can be a bit stressful at first. Ditto to Steven's and MC's posts.
Try something out before you put on the tape again.
Think of this as excitement, not anxiety. Even if you don't totally believe it, keep telling yourself this.
It's an adventure of teaching yourself how to live each day more content and with much more peace of mind.
You're intelligent and very capable of changing your life for the better and doing it completely on your own. Major accomplishment!!!
Every day that you work on the program you've gotten one step closer to a better life.
Every day you've accomplished more than you did yesterday and learned something new about yourself and how to turn your life in a new direction.
Every day, every time you listen to the session for the week, you're surrounded by friends who know exactly what you're going through and they have gotten past it.AND, they are there to cheer you on!
Every day, all of us here on this website are here to encourage each other and send hugs, and laughs and compassion to each other.
Someday soon, you'll be the one to help ease someone's mind with all the skills you've learned in this program.
After you graduate, you'll be so much more skilled than a lot of psychology students and grads because you experienced this condition first hand and have a much more in depth understanding of what it takes to overcome it.

Take that "never" out and KNOW that there is a victorious end in store for you!!!

Smile every day whether you want to or not and your day will be brighter.

Dear Hopeful,
Just know that you are not alone. Facing your panic and fears does cause more anxiety. But know too it will subside and get better. You must go thru this to get to the other side.
Know too that you can do this. I did and I am RECOVERED. I am so Thankful for this program it has helped me in so many ways. I now have the skills to deal with life whatever may come. I am happy and you will be too. But you must keep at it and never give up. Even if you have to take it slow and it takes you longer to complete the program that's ok. Do it at your own pace. Take babysteps and pat yourself on the back for any little thing you do. Be proud of yourself for even the little things. I had a hard time walking to my mailbox. So I was in pretty bad shape. But now I am Great. You can do this try to stay positive and encouraged. I am reading a very positive book called BECOME A BETTER YOU BY JOEL OSTEEN. I do reccommend it.
I have been writing positive things from this book and other positive books in a spiral notebook that I read everyday. This really helps me get the day started right and if I begin to feel a little low I get it out and read them again. Good Luck to you!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! We're here for you and maybe I'll catch you in the chat rooms sometime.

Thank you all for the kind words.
Yesterday was an absolute struggle, I was crying uncontrolably at work. But I know I must keep going and move forward. It's just really scary because I can't even remember what I was like before developing anxiety...

Thank you all so much for the kind words and hope.
