Hello my name is Jeanna I am on session 2 week 2 . I am just learning some of the techniques and how to apply them, I find myself to be having difficulties with breathing techniques. The program teaches us how our breathing has a profound way of effecting the "attacks" that come on or body symptoms, I try to focus on 1-1000, 2-1000...ect...but I feel like I am focusing too much on my breathing an may be actually subconsciously causing chest palpitations and fluttery heart things. I don't know I just wondered if anyone had any helpful hints or advice for the breathing techniques. Thanks everyone and God Bless you all.

Hey Jeanna,

Try not to worry about learning the breathing technique. It will become easier and more natural with time and practice. I think most of us tend to have increased anxiety temporarily as we begin to learn these new skills that are to begin with, so foreign to us. As you continue the program and your relaxation cd it will become almost second nature for you to breathe in this new way and you won't even think about it except that it will feel so relaxing for you. Hope that eases your mind a little.

You are more than welcome Jeanna- I'm glad I could help. It really will get easier with time and practice and you will come to love doing your relaxing breathing before you know it!

Take care and God bless you, my friend!

Love,

Gale

Hi VIVT,

Have you tried calling StressCenter about this? I would imagine lots of people are like you and for one reason or another, need a replacement relaxation CD. I would definitely give the StressCenter.com a call about ordering a replacement CD-I've got to believe it's possible to get a new one. Good luck!

Try not to focus on counting. Try to focus on the relaxing sensation acheived with a slower rate of breathing. My lung capacity (6'3'' 230lb) is much larger then Lucinda's and someone who smokes and weighs 100lb is going to be different then mine. I had the same problem , I was getting myself so worked up trying 2/4second breaths until I starting doing what was comfortable and just tried to slow down.

Thank You Gale, I will call, I'll let you know how it goes...I had hoped that maybe someone might live near me in So. Md.and I could just burn one to be quicker, but I would probably have one by now if I had called from the git-go! I just thought it would be quicker than waiting for it to be shipped...{ ha ha } VIV T.

Jeanna; Don;t let not being able to breath exactly like Lucinda. Somewhere either in the introduction hand book or session one it was said to make your exhale longer than your inhale. Also on the relaxation cd Lucinda suggests saying things like I am at peace and I am calm etc.. When you are making comforting, positive affirmations you aren't counting either. It is more important to keep practicing than to try to develope exact techniques. To slow your breathing sends your brain a message that all is well. So sit back close your eyes and breath slow in through the nose and out through mouth, using your abdomen and beleive all is well in my world, and you will fall into a rythem that will work for you. remember this cd is to teach us to relax. Don't complicate this exercise by worrying about the little things. Wishing you success in your practice of this program. God bless your endeavor, Bradley
