I'm having a problem with losing weight when I become stressed. Any Advice?
You did not mention how tall you are, which can make a difference in whether you are an appropriate weight. I used to be 115, which was a good weight for me.
Typically I'm on the opposite end and feel like eating more than I need to - the emotional eating. I have had experiences where I'm so depressed, though, that I didn't feel like doing the work to get something to eat. Either one for me is "emotional" in that I let my emotions regulate if, when, and how much I'll eat. Instead of doing this, I'm working on the way I look at eating. I must eat for nourishment and purely to put fuel into my body. It is so important to fuel our bodies with fruits and vegetables and I have to conciously make that decision. It has been a struggle, but when I tell myself I am in control of my decision to eat and what to eat, it helps.
I do hope this helps.
If you really feel you might have a problem, consider finding the Eating Disorder hotline phone number in your local phone book.

Gee... I have the same problem ....only the opposite way! I stress... I eat!
I have found that walking with a walkman on my head tuned to my favorite CD helps tremendously. I went through a terrible time in my life a few years back, and after every meal I would put my CD on with the earphones on and walked. I was up to 5 miles a day. One day out of coureosity I even walked 16 miles...just to see if I could do it! And I did... no problem.
So give this a try. For you, the outdoors air might work up an appetite! Hope this helps some. And by the way...I am 54 years old and the few years ago I was 52. Told my daughter "Try to top THAT!"
God Bless...!!!

When I was at my worst with anxiety I found myself not eating and then i would get too hungry and get increased symtoms as a result. So what i did was eat a small amount about every three hours. This meant that i had to carry snacks and stuff with me, but i think it really helped. Also, if you're feeling nauseated try to eat bland foods that are easy on the stomach. this was all new to me because I tend to be an emotional eater, actually i had a problem with binge eating, so it may be somethin I always struggle with. I agree with sunbound that we need to remember to eat for nourishment and that food is a fuel for our bodies. Do you have the program? Session 5 talks about diet. it also helps to reduce caffeine and sugar as much as you can because they can really add to problems with anxiety. Hope this helps!
