Its ok to have different beliefs, a forest would not be very interesting if all the trees were the same. :)
I have met great people from all walks of life with different beliefs.

I liked your pictures too. Sarah Boyle sure has a intresting story, and a beautiful voice.

AND GOOD picture of yourself! Nice looking guy that you are! Good Job Mike! :) :) :)

I don't know Susan boyle's story...i only know that one event that happened and how many people thought she was just going to get up there and make a fool of herself on stage.

Thank you...that is one of my better pictures. I was almost at recovery at that point a year or 2 ago but slipped back.

My path to fixing sleep is bumpy as expected. got to sleep at 2:30 on Sataurday night and last night 1:30-2.

I have stumbled upon a really great book though and i believe my motivation is going to grow even more.

There is a book called "What to say when you talk to yourself" It is a really good book about positive self talk. There is a couple parts of that book that i'm really intrested in. 1 about changing habits and the other about changing attitudes. It actually teaches you how to create affirmations specified to whatever goal you are working on. Supposibly it is not efficient enough to just have 1 or 2 phrases for any problem. What they suggest is that you take the problem and you write down all the negative thoughts you have about it and about why you don't want to change it or how you think you can't. You then take those negative thoughts and change them into something positive (and it needs to fall into a certain set of rules) and to use those as the affirmations and to read them 3-4X a day for a few weeks. I'm actually really glad that I had found this because even though i was making good progress I still felt like i could do more with my sleep goal. This way is really good because I'm going to make alot of affirmations for sleep and some of them are going to contain the benefits of sleep which is really likely to get me to really really want to get to sleep earlier. I'm also going to work with my resistance to relax as well and also impliment one for taking responsibility. I could easily overwhelm myself with this so I'm only going to do a few goals at a time. I'll let you know how it works.

Its good that you expected some bumps with your sleep. But over all you have been doing and feeling so much better! :)

I had a busy weekend and stressful too. It was 98* here and I had a local wedding to attend. I worryed all week about it for some strange reason. I felt mad because this was going to be a fun thing that I wanted to do and it seams like always something interfears or makes things hard. but I kept myself from any real panic attack. Saturday am I woke up with a swollen knee! It was fine at bed time so what happened over night???? hummm... That stressed me a little. I started with my self talk, I didn't feel pain, it will be alright.
The day went on, the wedding was good, had some great food (I'm a picky eater so I was really surprised)Later that night we had another event to go to ( everything on one day, geez) It was out side in the evening and it was really nice out. One bad thing happened there too, I got stung by a hornet, on my foot, wearing sandels! I put some mud on it and took a benadryl I was fine. So I made it through a big weekend, I am relieved its over, more confident as I dealt with some stressors that I did deal with much better than in the past. :D

I went to the Dr. today with my knee. That too is a stresser. I have a cyst that filled with fluid behind the knee, it will go away in time, rest, ice, motrin. Only sometimes do you need surgery to fix this.

So I did really well at putting action infront of what if. I did better at the self talk in keeping myself below 5's for anxiety. I even got slightly dizzy a couple times but worked through the whole thing and enjoyed my self inspite of the heat and my physical problems. :)

I'm going to look for that book, it sounds great! I too need improvement on self talk.

My Dr. has been a great help with complimanting me on my improvement. My bp was great, no zanax sense March, and he even said it is a process of changing all those habits, thoughts ect... but he said he really sees a change in me. :D He's probably so relieved I am not calling him all hours as I have been known to do!( in the past)

This was a real test weekend, I have some good marks, and some needs to improve too. I realize where I need to improve and that is much better than before!

Oh I think I'm ready to move to the next session. Maybe Wed. I catch 13, time management. Sounds interesting...

Hey this is my latest posts about the affirmations

http://bbs.stresscenter.com/ev...5651001#349005651001

It was too long to just repost and I didn't feel like altering it to fit in this thread.

I noticed that you posted THH but i have not read it yet. Its a little late and I just had to post affirmations to help someone else. I will come online tomorrow and I will read what you wrote and post then.

Oh ya I have felt 1000X better just because of that realization and the constant reminder i give myself every night.

Wow that is some really great progress there THH. You were worried because in the past stuff had happened to make things hard or ruin it for you but you still did it anyways. You had the habit of worrying come back which it is still a habit and you have already made progress to change that simply by going through with the event despite the worry and you experienced a good outcome despite the catastrophizing. You have proved your worry wrong at some level and sometimes only experience can really help us to overcome anxietys. The part where anxiety is trigger i read somewhere is not a part of the thinking brain but more about experiences/memories. You also kept your anxiety to below the 5s and that isn't always easy to do. You did very well!

Ah the good old mud trick, I guess everybody knows about that one. Its fascinating how that works.

That sounds like a very good doctor you have there and congrats on not needing the zanax. Ha you must have drove him batty with all the phone calls! Perhaps your improvements will influence him to do some research and help his other patients with it.

I have already started to make affirmation scripts to use, I can share them with you if you are intrested.

I have many scripts I would like to create, Tons and tons of affirmations.

Here is one i want to share about perfectionism;

Perfectionism does not exsist, I enjoy working & always improving. I am satisfied with my efforts, when I Improve and do better I am even more satisfied!

I am going to make an affirmation script for anxiety too! That'll be exciting to see the results after reading that everyday for a few weeks. I have only started with the affirmations 1-3 weeks ago and I already feel so much diffrent and see things diffrently. I see relationships in a better light, i am more connected, I do not feel alone, I am more positive and I love people now. Love used to be such a bad word for me, it carried a negative meaning for me. It ment pain and abuse but I have let that definition go and now it means the highest level of caring. Its amazing how a few words can make such a diffrence in somoene's life. When i get a videocam i am going to start doing video posts.
