back to bad negative thinking habits
even though i do positive think when im going through a tough time and i usually, gradually come out of it i find that when things are going well i tend to slowly get back into negative thoughts and it comes back very slowly what to do how long am i supposed to focus on anxiety even when i feel fine?
Practice dismissing the thoughts. Instead of talking back to them and giving them any kind of energy at all, just notice them and dismiss them. You dismiss them by bringing your attention to what is going on in the present moment.
Also, if I am understanding you correctly, do not focus on the anxiety. Focus on the relaxation instead. Focus on your slow breathing. Focus on tightening the muscles in your body and then releasing them - starting with your feet. Practice daily.

Hi Swirly,
It looks like you and I started the program about the same time. To get better we are going to make changes and change never comes easy. We did not become negative over night and we won't become positive over night.
Let's follow the program step by step and see how we progress. I have had some bad moments in the past two weeks, but thanks to the program I don't linger. I accept it; cry and then talk to myself repeating the relaxation tape; "I am calm, I am peaceful, my mind is quiet."
This has helped me survive the past two weeks.
I am online right now because I am struggling not to become depressed, even though I have valid reason to be; if I let go it may keep me down too long.
I hope I made some sense to you. It is 10:30 my time and I must retire in order to function in the morning. Talk to you later.
