This past year I have been dealing with morality. I'm 27 and just got married. Lately I have realized that we are not on earth very long and it scares me. I don't know if this is just part of growing up or if this is an irrational fear. I guess I'm also scared of growing old I actually petrified of turning 30 I know this sounds stupid but had to get it off my chest.

Hi there, I'm 27, engaged, and terrified of turning 30 as well. Lately, I've been thinking a lot about my old high school self. My 10 year reunion is coming up next year and I'm petrified.

I keep comparing my current self to my old high school self and beating myself up for what I've become. My high school self was so creative, artistic, uninhibited, flamboyant, a little rebellious and definitely assertive. Now I feel like I'm just a shell of that person due to my anxiety that has developed over the last few years. When I think of things that happened in the past, the first thing I think is "oh gosh, that was back when I didn't have anxiety...how wonderful it was."

It is so hard to live in the present when you're constantly thinking of how good the past was and it seems like the older we get, the faster life happens. Life is so short and I don't want to waste another minute of it worrying and wondering "what if..." Thanks for your post.

Hi Jkicker,

These are normal thoughts. Try not to obsess about these thoughts. You are searching for answers, and all that is normal. I will be 60 in less than 6 months, and there are times that death is a very real possibility.
