Yep, I'm contemplating giving the program a go for a third time. I can't really say that I've given the program a chance, because I haven't. I never made it past the first lesson and never did everything exactly the way it said.
Maybe this is part of my problem. I am not a very structured person when it comes to schedules and journaling, listening to the relaxation CD and going through the workbook. It is a lot to fit into my day especially the way I feel right now. And I have virtually no privacy when I am at home.
I'm deep in the throes of depression and anxiety...again. I'm not on medication right now and hope to never be again due to the horrendous side effects I suffer from with them all. I am seeing a therapist, but at this point I feel like I'm just hashing over the same old stuff again and again and not getting anywhere.
Life is difficult. Waking up is difficult. Continuing to perform at work is VERY difficult. I am sleeping a lot to deal with it all. No energy. Lots of physical symptoms as my mind plays tricks on my body once again. Anxiety is my constant companion.
I've been in this battle for more than 25 years now and still feel very alone in my struggle. I can talk to people about it until I turn blue in the face, but talk doesn't fix things. My support system is next to nonexistent.
I hope I can make it this time, because right now I am not living...just surviving.
Third time's a charm?
Onlychild,
Yes the third time is a charm. I strongly encourage you to make this your priority. You won't regret it a day if you will make that committment. Don't you want to live life? Don't you want to feel happy again, at peace again?
This program did that very thing for me. If it can do it for me, it can do that for you. It has been my answer and I am so very greatful for God sending it my way.
I was in just pitiful shape, not functioning at all, could barely leave my home. Scared out of my mind 24/7. Couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, I was in a dark hole and felt I would never escape it. This program changed my life. It didn't happen overnight. We all want an instant fix. It takes hard work and dedication, but is worth every effort you make. Please do this for you, do it for your family, do it for your peace of mind. Don't give up. You can do this, you can conquer this condition. I am living proof. I wish you the very best and keep coming back to these forums for encouragement. Come to the chat rooms too. Good Luck to you. Once again don't give up, it can be done and that peace you are looking for will come.

As Lucinda says, your first priority should be doing this program! It really DOES help. Talking helps only if you are writing down the negative thoughts you have and then WRITING down the positive changes of those thoughts. If you're just rehashing it, I don't think it has a long-term effect of helping.
The relaxation audio helps tremendously with the anxiety. The journaling and writing/replacing negative thoughts helps tremendously with depression.
Do take the time you need for yourself. If you can't find the time at home alone, then if you have the program, go to a coffee shop or library to work on them alone. (Take a cd player & headset, if you must.)
You deserve to give this your best effort! Do it at your pace, but DO the work. You will notice a difference.
