I am on week 2 of the program, but have been dealing with anxiety, panic attacks and depression for the past 8 years. My husband always says to me "just stop thinking that way" or "just don't worry" or "just stop." I get so frustrated with him because he doesn't understand and won't take time to really understand how I feel or how to help me.
I don't want him to feel sorry for me, but I do want his support. Has anyone else experienced issues with a spouse?
Dealing with a spouse
Hi elizajd,
I'm sorry to hear that. Did you try to give the cd " I'll be there for you " to your husband to listen? It came with the program. Sometimes it is hard for "normal" people to understand to what is going on, they don't see that it is out of our control but I believe that it will all get better as you progress with the program and your husband will start noticing new things and be happy for you. My husband is very supportive to me but when I tried to tell him what symptoms I have been having and what is on my mind, he told me : "Don't expect me to tell you that I know how you feel because I don't." And that just speaks for all. Just as we need our loved ones to understand us, they need us to understand them.
Take care and God bless you.

I am the spouse having a hard time understanding. Everything I do or say is wrong. He is the dominate person in our marriage. It seems like there is no making him happy. He is in week two and now refuses to continue with the program because he says he is not the one with anything wrong with him, it is everyone else.
StressCenter.com did not send a cd like PE mentioned with mine, but I got mine 2 years ago. Yes there is a need for material that a souse can listen to so they can understand to some degree. I suggest that you go online and find every website that has information about anxiety/panic and see if they have that kind of information for spouses.
I know it is somewhat lonely without some understanding in the family, but you must determine that YOU will get better for YOU!
sIrened, I am sorry that your anxiety husband has quit the program. He is keeping healing from himself by doing so.
EVERYONE, you only benefit from the program depending on the effort you put into it.
