I haven't been going to church and recently have felt the need to start doing so. Last week in the midst of a bad panic attack I prayed, and told God that I would go to church on Sunday if he would just help me in that moment. The panic began to fade away. I decided to attend church with my mom on Sunday- she attends the local Calvary Chapel. Guess what the title of the sermon was? Don't Worry. Here are the verses the sermon was based on, I think they can help anyone who is feeling anxious or depressed:
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[a]?
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Don't Worry
Hi Theresa,
Thank you the post and sharing. God is loaded with so many surprises. The account you shared was a special gift that he had for you at this precise time. No matter what or anything; Keep your eyes on Jesus and keep Listening to what he is telling you. Did He just tell you that He Loves you, that he understand and feels you pain, that he is there to shoulder your burden, for you are heavy laden.
These are the voices that God wants you to listen to and hear. He comes to you as a little prankish child that loves to keep people excited in anticipation, and thinking: OMG, what is He going to be up to next? I can hardly wait to see what He is going to do next.
Look at what He tells Peter John :21:20-22
Isn't that a much better picture of how and different are the ways He shows us His love. If we seek him in so many unexpected places, He is sure to surprise you. It like a kids game of hide and seek. It gets to be so much fun.
As he plays with His children, He brings us so much Joy, that it ratchets up our excitement levels. OMG, there he is, I see Him, and often He hides on us so good, that we get discouraged, and want to quit playing and bam he comes to us in the most unexpected ways.
Expect Him in the expected and the unexpected places, and you will never tire of playing with Him. Don't worry. Be Happy........... and guess what? All your worry and problems seem so small in comparison that all you can do is laugh it all off, and begin again. That's what keeps me soaring on His wings and upon on the mountain.
Look at what He tells us when we feel we have nothing left to go on Mat 14:17-20
Just give Me what you got, and He will take care of everything else.
He is telling you that whatever you have just bring it to Him. Don't worry, He will take care of it. If it is all the junk in your closet He will make it work together for good. It doesn't matter, what you bring Him. He will take care of it.
Boink. He just boinked me, what did do to you?
Gman is losing it again. Oh yeah, I am losing the old way of thinking of and looking at anything. You can do this too. Just give Him what you got, and let him show you. Oh but, I prayed and I did this and I did that and nothing. Really? You think it's easy doing all this stuff.
Read this one Luke 8:27-36 and Mark 5:6-15 :
This was a huge chore, and the demons would not relinquish and even negotiated with Jesus, the demons did not depart right away. In other words they linger even as Jesus was working to rid the man of the demons. After it was all over in this account the man sitting with Jesus, clothed and "in his right mind."
Quite often, it does take some time for Jesus to deliver us. Sometimes, whatever it is has a strong hold over us, and sometimes we have a strong cling on whatever it is that troubles us. That's why it seems to take some time. Remember, this is a spiritual warfare, you have to put on all the armour of God. Eph. 610-13. Amen
Don't worry, be happy. Who is in control? Then don't sweat the details. We already have the victory! Acceptance of the outcome is what we constantly struggle with in our own disbelief. We are only human. Give Him what you got, let it go and let God!
Amen. All for His Joy, Praise and Glory. Amen

ATTITUDE -- The mind is like a parachute...it doesn't work unless it's open!!
Thanks Theresa for this post. I have read that before when I started the program a couple years ago and it helped me then, but now I am back reading the Old Testament again so this really lifted me today. Thanks so much again. I think I should go back to the New Testament. God was really talking to you that day and you posting it here is also what He wanted to help others as well.
In Christ,
Anita
