The spiritual response to anxiety and depression

I honestly believe that God doesn't care if you sit and read your bible on a daily basis as long as your doing something ie..reading a spiritual book, praying or watching a Joyce Meyer teaching video on the internet. All He cares about is YOU!! Your Father wants you to be happy, content and filled with the Spirit.

hey Sister Creepy... thanks for the encouraging words... happy, content, and filled with the Spirit... just being in HIS presence and knowing HIM more... those are the greatest... "LOVE the LORD your GOD with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and your neighbor as yourself"... thus fulfilling the law and the prophets... may GOD continue to bless you as you have blessed me today... much LOVE,
kj

I am a pastor's wife, too. I'm not Baptist, though. I grew up in that church and love it dearly. In a way it's good to know that I'm not alone here.

My experince is that most Christians- who mean well- tell us that Christians don't suffer from anxiety or depression unless there is something wrong in their walk with God. You don't pray enough, read the word enough, have unresolved sin issues, blah blah blah blah. Just tust God.

I have learned something else. Why does God allow Christians to endure hardship? Because he wants to build our trust/love relationship. Also, how effective would be as Christians be if we never suffered anything that the world does. How can we minister to hurt if we never experience it?

Very early on, I committed this to God. If I need meds, so be it. If I need counseling, so be it. Whatever He allows is ok. He's with me. But I can't tell you the number of times that I've been able to relate to someone who was dealing with depression and anxiety. I can offer them hope that someone who doesn't know what it's like can't. KWIM?

There's a website that is just for pastors' wives that I stumbled onto. I can't tell you how much love and encouragement the ladies are there! Go to www.pastorswives.proboards15.com. You can register and they will contact you. They try to make sure that we are really all pw's. But they are great!!!!!! Some of them have become wonderful friends that I can call or message on facebook, or email when I need prayer and support, and they are right there!

KJ, I had a bad night last night. It was as if Satan was working hard to tell me that this wasn't going to work. I know that you are an awesome pw. You see what others miss. I am sorry that you are discouraged. We will always have that to deal with.

God told Joshua, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous, for I the Lord, your God will be with you wherever you go." He's right there with you.

Don't be hard on yourself! Give yourself permission to have a bad day and to be able to go on. We have more than just ourselves that we are concerned about. We are surrounded by people who are desperate for love and acceptance, people who love us, and people who are just weeds in the garden (Jesus' parable of the weeds).

"Abba, Father, You are so kind and so gentle. You have such a loving embrace- I ask you to pull your daughter up into your lap and hold her close to your heart. Let her feel your presence. She is trying to be a good wife. She is trying to be a good pw. She is trying to be what you want her to be. Remind her that you are there with her and that she can do all things through Christ Jesus. He died so that we may be free. Help her to follow through with this program so that she can be strong and courageous like Joshua and lead others to the good things that you have for them. I thank you in advance for the blessing that kj is going to be to others who are suffering with anxiety and depression once she is well. She is going to love them with a compassion that others can't since they haven't been there! I thank you for the strength that you are giving her. I thank you for the way that you are loving on her. In The strong name of Jesus! Amen!"

Feel free to pm me anytime!
