mary jane and all,
thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers.like you said about the people being homeless.as we went to different churches of different faiths.we drove by places where you could see people laying down in the alleys and on the side walks.as you get away from rio which seems like so nice and go up in the hills there you will see houses set on top of each other.they throw the power lines that are small over the wire and tie it in.they have the very basic for survival.I gave a family 20 dollars and you would have thought it was a million. we go there to take them clothes that we give out at the mission and they give them food each day.people here do not know how good they have it.it does brake my heart to see all that and know that we can be a part of helping.even if its only giving a kid a kite and I bought a big pack and gave them away and wonder now why I bought the others home.my brother in Christ that helps at the mission his computer tower crashed and we had an extra one and I hooked it up and Praise God it worked.so I will take it to him when we go.thanks again for your kindness and prayers and may God Bless each one of you.

if we don't go who will take the word to the people.

Liz...I am a little leery about joining a group, since, I never give out my e-mail address.
Also, I honestly feel needed on this forum, and
I do not have any extra time left, between seeing
to my hubby's and daughter's needs, and of course,
doing all of my household chores. Wow..it can become overwhelming, at times...
All work and no play..LOL..
Actually, I try and get out at least once a day to enjoy nature, and break the monotony of the day!!!!
Sounds like a great idea, though!!!! God Bless!!!

Hi D,
I saw that you had seen several things that you reported about deplorable conditions and such, and how grateful people were for the few attentions that you personally gave. I can tell you that you don't have to go to Brazil to see these things and I am often puzzled that many people can't see the needs right in their back yard. I am not trying to beat up on you or others called to missions. But really, a 2 week mission to make an appearance that we all pray would make a huge difference in the needs of the targets of the mission. Listen, read and heed.
I was inspired this past Sunday to write a poem and then I heard a melody and put it to song lyrics: http://aie-llc.com/Poems/HisLight.doc
Song: http://aie-llc.com/Poems/LovingGrace.mp3
In the absence of clearly lifting of praise to Jesus Christ, I get stuck on examining motive; regardless of who the person may be(Acts 10:34). The target of the poem and song were a visiting Evangelist. They got the poem and song in letter along with the following citations: Col. 3:16, Gal 1:8, 2 Cor. 5:3
I will pray for you to develop a deeper and closer relationship with the Lord so that you will more clearly hear and answer His call, and that He continue to inspire you to service to and for His will.
Personally, I felt the calling to this mission field, and it is vast and the needs are great. I am now feeling the calling to prison ministry, and nursing home ministry, local pantries for the homeless, the needs are great even in otherwise affluent neighborhoods. You really don't have to look too far. In fact, if there is an urban center near where you live, there are crack houses, prostitutes, homeless, soup kitchens, etc, all crying out for our attention and God's saving grace and good Samaritans ready to step in and fill these needs.
God's blessing to you for your thoughtfulness
