Hi Mary,

i'm a pastor's wife... and i know they are NOT perfect... nor do they always give you God's perspective on a situation... sometimes it just comes out of their own mouths from their own experiences... don't get me wrong... i know we are to LOVE and respect them... God HAS called them out... but we must look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith and ask Him to pleas let us know HIS answer beyond any doubt... cause pastors are humans too... my husband often tells me "i'm just a man"... so we really need to pray for them... our pastors would do well to know we are praying for them and we understand that it can be very difficult discerning the Spirit of the Living God in any particular situation... i will pray for you as well... with God ALL things are possible... you CAN ..... much LOVE,

I could Not have said it any better than Cornflower and Keithjoy. I totally agree with both of them.

Pastors are human, just as us (Christians) are.
I have no idea why any Pastor in this world would think it is a sin to use patches to break a bad habit. It doesn't make any sense at all to me...

May God Bless You Is My Prayer!!!

cornflower, keithjoy andMs. T Bones, Thankyou all for your vote of support. I do know that pastors are only human and we all make mistakes and I really don't hold anything against him, I just didn't understand where he was comming from. I will start the patches probably tomorrow, that is if I can remember where I put them! It is such a blessing to recieve all of your e-mails. Anxeity and panic attacks are not for God, and it is nice to have people who have been there to help.
Blessings to you all.

maybe it would be well to just ask him (your pastor) where he's coming from on this issue??? he's the only one who knows that and we could only guess... anyway... my sister used to pray to Saint Anthony if she lost something... she said he's the patron Saint of lost things... amazingly... it works for me too and i'm not even Catholic... just LOVE God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength.... and my neighbor as myself... hope you have great success with this... my dad was a smoker... he said he put the pencil to it and figured it would only add 2 weeks to his life if he quit... and he enjoyed smoking too much ... but he moved to heaven in 2001... so just listen to our Maker... HE will provide all the help you need... much LOVE,

Keithjoy, Thanks for your imput. I already screwed up today and in fact I really don't care right now about anything. Seems as if I go from bad to worse wothout really even trying. I know that you being a pastor's wife you must end up listening to alot of stuff from people and I'm sure that can get to you. I really don't know where I am on anything at the moment so maybe it is best not to try and quit right now. I really am not coping out, I really do want to quit, I just don't have it in me right now for some reason. Thanks again and God bless you........

MARY,
I know how you feel when you say that you want to quit but not right now.today was suppossed to be my wifes time to quit today. we finished out last one this morning.then I got a call that if I did not have the rest of the money by the 15th of this month I would not be able to go back to brazil on my 2nd mission trip.I had it all except 440.00 was told to use my credit card. what the one with 15.00 in it lol.raised all the money except that and then told them to send me what I had put in there. 1,500.00 got a letter back that they had contacted the mission director at the church and gave me until the 22nd.by that time I had alreay gone and got more smokes.so do not feel alone.take care and be blessed in all that you do.
don
some things will take us over the edge but we still hold on to what we got.

Dear Mary,
If you are under a lot of stress right now, then, maybe, you need to lower that anxiety level before contemplating quitting smoking.

If we feel we have to do something, then, it is only natural for us to resist doing it!!!

I think I would pray for the Lord's help on this one...I would ask him to take away the craving, as well as, the habit!!!

I am sure when the time is right for you, then, you will quit smoking cigarettes...

Until then, place all of your trust in the Lord!!!

I pray you have a great night!!!! God Bless

D, Thanks for the feedback. It seems as if I take one step forward and 2 steps backwards. Guess I'm just getting tired of it. God is my strength and refuge, provider, protector, deliverer,my source of everything and I know He loves me. I just thought I was going through some disipline because of my disobedience, after all He does discipline those He loves.
Have a great and blessed day and best to you about the missions trip.

Ms.T Bones, I sure am under a lot of stress now, but not any more than other people. I guess I just don't handle it as well as I used to. I have already prayed for God to take away the habit and the cravings and I do believe He will, I just don't know when and my breathing isn't getting any better. I sure would like to be around for my grandsons graduation if at all possible.
I was reading Ps. 107 this morning and found it quite comforting.
Thanks again

hey Mary, you're right, YOU have to be ready to quit before you can begin the process... listening to yourself is a good thing ... get to know yourself better... be kind to yourself and remember, the ONE who created you is NEVER going to leave you alone... HE will give you everything you need to fight and win this battle and HE also will give you everything you need to rest in HIM... remember when he told Joshua... "the battle is not yours... "???? well, maybe this is not your battle either... just trust HIM and HE will not let you down...

ya know, i just happened to think of a resource you may want to try after you finish this program... it's put out by LIFEWAY, the Christian bookstore of the Southern Baptist Convention ... it's called, "Quitting for Good".. and it's a workbook/Bible study for quitting smoking... several years ago, SBC bought the rights to a series of support group helps written by Robert McGee for dealing with lots of things addictions, abuse, alcoholic parents, etc., and they have been most helpful ... you can look them up on line at Lifeway.com... or goggle it to find them... they would be more than willing to help you... as would I...

and as for listening to lots of problems ... well... that's just part of the territory... but the Bible does tell us to bear one another's burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ... so when i do listen, often it's just so that they can talk, i'm not the problem solver, GOD is and when i learned that i just give it to HIM, .... HE does answer and heal... HE's the doctor who never lost a patient...:)... thank you for sharing... we will continue to pray for you and believe that God will answer and heal in HIS time...
much LOVE,
kj
