New School Prayer


This was written by a high school student in response to the request for the
removal of God from the Pledge and the actual bannning of prayer in school.

NEW School prayer :
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen

How did this get started?...

Let's see,

I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained

She didn't want any prayer in our schools.

And we said, OK...

Then,

Someone said you better not read the Bible in school,

The Bible that says

"Thou shalt! Not kill,

Thou shalt not steal,

And love your neighbors as yourself,"

And we said, OK...

Dr. Benjamin Spock said

We shouldn't spank our children

when they misbehaved

because their little personalities

would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem.


And we said,

An expert should know what he's talking about.

So we won't spank them anymore...

Then someone said

Teachers and principals better not

Discipline our children when they misbehave.

And the school administrators said

No faculty member in this school

Better touch a student when they misbehave

Because we don't want any bad publicity,

And we surely don't want to be sued.

And we accepted their
Reasoning...

And the entertainment industry said,

let's make TV shows and movies that promote

Profanity, violence and illicit sex...

And let's record music that encourages

Rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes...

And we said,

it's just entertainment

And it has no adverse effect

And nobody takes it seriously anyway,

So go right ahead.

Now we're asking ourselves

Why our children have no conscience,

Why they don't know right from wrong,

And why it doesn't bother them to

Kill strangers, classmates or even themselves.

Undoubtedly,

If we thought about it long and hard enough,

We could figure it out.

I'm sure it has a great deal to do with...

I do feel that God should be in the schools. He is the reason we even have one!! I do think keeping it out of the schools is a good idea though. Too many people have different views about him and or others just don't believe at all right now. To keep the peace, it's best left out. God understands.

Jewels I have to dissagree with you I think the Lord God is furious that we have takin him out of the school in the first place. Look at how the children are in school now and look at all the kids that are killing others in school you never heard of this before he was takin out of the school. I think that the nation is reaping what they have sown and since it has been done without the Lord than there is going to be a price to pay because my Lord is a jelous Lord and nothing or noone should come before him~

If one would look at the Christian schools where God is NOT left out...those schools are accelerating and the children are far more ahead and more blessed then the children that attend public schools. Read statics and do the research...God Does Show His Favor to those who dilegently seek him and acknowledge him...........These children are more balanced and at peace.....They have scholarships plus more.....

The problem sanmannn is not everyone is christian. If I were catholic and your child mormon, whose beliefs should be taught? You follow? I agree that childern need God in their lives. That is my personal view. I would never impose that on anyone eles'e child though. Personal beliefs should be taught at home, unless of course you choose a private school. You get what you pay for right? Reckless to assume that others can do this for us in a public school. Until the time comes when we can all agree on one simple truth, God's teachings belong to the parents of these childern.

Yes I agree about teaching of God should be done by parents.....the children are the fruit of the tree. The scripture also states a tree shall be judged by the fruit it bares....Thats why Jewel I stated look at the " Christian Schools" I never stated any other schools nor any other religon nor any other public only to view and see how successful the Christian schools are and guess what all of them don't charge!!! What a blessing.

Sanmannn, most if not ALL christian schools charge an admission. See attached link. Not sure where your living and when was the last time you looked into them? As for the most successful rating in schools these days, the honor goes to the gates program. It is in no way christian related.

Sorry Jewels not looking for a challenge here nor do I think sanmannn is.

As far as the link you provided it only stated for evangelchristian schools......not nondemoninational christian schools, or apostolistic schools..etc. Please be fair and not catergorize all Christian beliefs and or religons....I hate to see another Post banned.

If one searches up free "christian" schools in there area the tool bar will come up with the schools. Many schools are FUNDED because of their great success rate. I know there are 23 in California and 6 here in Michigan..........and yes they are far ahead based on their state scorings. Many do not use a gates program. Personally I have not seen that program in any of the schools that my children and loved ones have atteneded in the past.....and honor goes to God in my life first not a gates, a program or anyone else. I give glory to GOD for inspiring a woman that created this program as Lucinda gives GLory to GOd as well.
