I've been in the program and coaching since Nov. - I'm also in a new marriage so there are conflicts coming up all over the place. I need your prayers - prayer that I gain the confidence through this program and prayers for my husband and I - that we start to come together. It's my first marriage - his second and it is a learning curve. I'm also getting married later in life. I don't want to take more meds - I do take some. Thank you - MAGH
First off, congratulations on your marriage! My husband and I dated for nearly eight years before we got married. Since we had been together and even lived together (the last year we dated), I NEVER would have guessed being married was so difficult.
About three years in we nearly called it quits, but thankfully, this wasn't what God had planned. It's almost ten years later and while there has certainly been ups and downs, for the first time I don't feel like I want to join the Peace Corp whenever things get rough. (We don't have any kids, so I would seriously think about simply buying a one-way ticket abroad to escape him and our problems).
A few months back, one of my friends gave me the book The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian. I'll be honest, I prefer Max Lucado when I read devotionals, and some of the ideas Omartian supports (a wife's submission) rubbed me the wrong way; however, I began praying for my husband and the areas of his life I knew were challenging him. The change in his attitude toward work and me (my anxiety, stress, and reliance on Rx) has completely changed. It's been amazing! For the first time in years I feel like we're a team again.
I hope you find this helpful. Feel free to post back, and please know you and your husband are in my prayers.
Blessings to you both,
fischee

Hey Martha, I will be married 36 yrs. in May!! Now don't tell me that hasnt been a struggle!!!
There have been many good times but also..don't want to begin to say. God will honor your heart. I cannot say enough about the book fischee mentioned. "The Praying Wife" is excellent. I love Stormie. Funny how so many love Max Lucado. Don't understand why I can't get into him. I even gave the Max Lucado Bible away. My son was glad to get it. Different authors for different people. Prayers to you Martha. Let us know how you're doing.
