Praying for GOD to come into my life, I need hope again!
Dave, here are some scriptures for you:
The fire will test the quality of each man's work. (1 Corinthians 3:13)
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 2:3)
When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. (Ecclesiastes 7:14)
Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun. However many years a man may live, let him enjoy them all. But let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. (Ecclesiastes 11:7-8)
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? (Hebrews 12:7)
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. (James 1:12)
I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. (Philippians :18-19)
Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. (Psalm 68:19)

Yes it was Job Thank you. Please read this Dave it can give you perspective.
We then learn of the controversy between God and Satan concerning Job.
On an occasion when Satan came before the Lord, God asked him whether
he had considered His faithful servant, Job. Satan responded with an
attack on Job's character, that his fear of God was only because God
blessed him. Satan then said that Job would curse God if everything he
had was taken away. In response, God put all that Job had in Satan's
power, with the exception of Job himself (1:6-12).
In one day, then, Job lost all his material possessions through various
calamities. His sons and daughters, also, were killed when a great
tornado destroyed the house in which they were partying. Though deeply
grieved, Job worships God and does not charge Him with wrong (1:13-22).
When Satan appeared before God again, the Lord asked whether he had
considered how Job had remained faithful despite his losses. Satan
then made another challenge, saying that Job would curse God if he
himself were harmed. God then allowed Satan power over Job, but only
up to the point of actually taking his life. With such power, Satan
strikes Job with painful boils (cf. 2:7-8; 7:5; 30:30) over his entire
body. Job's wife lost what faith she might have had, and told him to
curse God and die. Job, however, refuses to sin with his lips
(2:1-10).
At this point, three of Job's friends (Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar)
come to mourn and try to comfort him. However, they are shocked when
they see Job (whom they did not recognize because of the boils), and
sit dumbfounded for seven days and nights without a word in reaction to
the magnitude of his grief (2:11-13).

In A Panic!
When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. (NIV) Mark 6:47-48
Jesus has just miraculously fed a huge crowd (estimated between 15,000-25,000 people) with just 5 small loaves of bread and 2 small fish. All the people have eaten and are satisfied. As the people watch, they become convinced that this Jesus, is no ordinary man. They're hoping that maybe He's the One they've been waiting for. . .the One who will bring healing, help and hope to their nation.
The people think that their hope will be found in crowning Jesus King of Israel. There is political momentum here. If a vote had been taken, Jesus would have won the Galilean primary! But, Jesus knows that is not His mission. Jesus sends the crowds home and sends His disciples away on a 5 mile journey. Could it be that Jesus did not want His disciples get too tempted by "kingdom" talk?
But, instead of hoopla, the disciples find themselves caught in an unpredictable turn of events. The sun has set, a chilling wind sends shivers up their spines. . . it's pitch black, no moonlight, and a storm is coming. The boat begins to rock back and forth. The men try to steady themselves. Wave after wave crashes against the boat, pouring more and more water into it. Some of the disciples most likely, frantically bail water, as others strain against the oars. They are exerting every muscle in their bodies trying to make headway against the relentless wind and waves. . . they are soaked, from the sea water and their own perspiration. . . their hands are blistered from gripping the wooden oars, which get heavier with every pull. They do not have a choice of fight or flight. They couldn't exactly swim in or head for shore, they are 3 1/2 miles out (John 6:19b) - right in the middle of the lake (Mark 6:47).
I wonder what was going through their minds. . ."Where is Jesus when you need Him? Just like everyone else I've met in life, He doesn't really care about me. You can't count on anyone.". . . "What will happen to my wife and kids? Who will provide for them?". . . "I'm too young to die". . . or were any reciting Isaiah 43:2 "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you?"
What are you afraid of? Not ever having enough money? Or running out of money? Afraid of the violence around you? Afraid of being alone? of death? Of looking back on a worthless life? Do you ever wonder if anyone really cares?
DO you believe that God will be with you? How are you seeking Him out?

Dave,
My heart goes out to you, as well as my prayers. I just wanted to add that there are several folks (Christians too) that have gone through financial problems and other problems and made it. This will not destroy you. In the scheme of life, losing everything is not losing life. Does that make sense? Families that go through tough times can really bond together and get a blessing that they would not have had otherwise. I'm not sure how God will work out your situation, but I know that He is in control and knows exactly what you are going through and what you and your family need. Try not to feel like a failure as a husband and father, but instead, look to Him to find real life and to help you with any decisions you must make. I love the verse that says "Don't be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God." When I have panicked, I have taken that verse part by part and followed it. There is hope! Things may not quite go the way you had hoped, but that does not mean there is no hope. Instead, God has a bigger blessing for you through all of this trial. You and your family are in my prayers.

Dave,
We are here for you, hang in there! "Weeping may endure through the night but joy comes in the morning." Not sure where that scripture is. Psalms maybe. Turn to God as many are saying. He will not leave you as an orphan in a storm. Please read my poem about depression in the spiritual section. I think it may help. I was pulling the covers over my head in depression when God did something so funny! The CD player turned on by itself playing a worship CD and it kept getting louder and louder till I had to get out of bed. Before this God told me to praise Him. That's when I pulled the covers over my head and when that CD went on all I could do was turn it down but get on my knees and praise Him. God is funny. He makes me laugh. You'll see. Your joy will come back. Remember, the JOY of the Lord is your strength." Prayers to you and your family. Also remember the song, "God will make a way when there seems to be no way. He works in ways we cannot see, He will make a way for me. JESUS IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE.

Dave- I went through a similar situation where I was out of work for 10 months, but I did not have the skills that we possess now. What tapes or CDs do you have access to? Is it just the on-line program? Tape 3 on Empowerment Self Talk and Tape 6 on Anger and Tape 4 on Expectations may help you.
I am as well as you in an incredible situation: waiting for one of my houses to sell in this market and economy with one salary that does not meet all of the expenses --- debt accumulating; BUT I know God is not sleep, He is not Slumbering, Greater is He that is within me, than He that is in the world....
Life does not end with debt, life is not over because a house forecloses, life is not over when a creditor calls.... God can make all grace to abound towards you and GRANT you DOUBLE what you lost.
If you can make a concrete decision to focus ONLY on what is GOOD in this situation and in the Lord.... YES, you have to force yourself to think on the good.... Maybe you did need a break from the old job... Maybe God wants to give you a season of REST... You can seek financial advisement from financial advisers like Smith Barney for free... You may be able to take out a second mortgage on your house... In the mean time think of inventive ways to make more money outside of what you regularly do....You are in good health... God LOVES YOU VERY MUCH.... YOU ARE JUST AT THE POINT OF A BREAKTHOUGH -- P.U.S.H. - Pray Until Something Happens. You CAN DO ALL things through CHRIST, YES, YOU CAN....
Prayer: Now Father you are the ALMIGHTY GOD, there is nothing too hard for you. What is a job to you. You can easily grant Dave that request. I lift up Dave before you. You see the anquish that he is in and what has been stolen from him. It is my prayer that you show Dave what you want him to gain from this experience and bless Dave with a Mighty Miracle Blessing that He will Know that it only comes from you. I know take authority over the spirits that come to rob Dave of the joy that He has in you Lord. The Lord rebuke that spirit of depression and heaviness. I plead the Blood of Jesus over Dave's life, his heart, his mind, and his will and rebuke all forms of retaliatory attacks in Jesus Christ name, I pray AMEN!

Hi Dave!
Here are a couple of practical helps:
1. Interchristo is a Christian group--they have a job listing for California as of now:

2. Go to an automotive recycling center (junkyard) and find a window at a price usually 1/2 or less than new.
We're all praying for you.

I am still struggling very hard, I could not go to bed on Monday night because I was very wound up about things that needed to be done on Tues. and it was the oldest daughters birthday so I was very wound up. I got a lot done on Tues. but overdid it and became too tired and it really made me crazier. I got into bed at about 12am wed morning and felt like I would just pass out so I only took 50mg of Seroquel I have been taking 100mg at bedtime, it was very hard to get to sleep. I kept waking until after 3 am when I took more 50mg more Seroquel and slept into the afternoon. I am really having trouble with sleeping too much and not feeling like I can get out of bed in the daytime. Thursday my lady and I need to go deal with the office contents for the business that did not work for me since the landlord will want to rent it. This is creating a lot of depression also. I don't know how to break these "not knowing what to do feelings"?
I feel very lost and incapable to figure out how to regain my strength?

Dave, I'm glad you at least got back to us. Are you using the relaxation CD when you go to bed at night. A set of headphones if you're afraid of disturbing others. Are you calling out to God? He is there to give you answers. He will guide your steps if you ask him. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding and he will direct your paths. Prov. 3:5-6 I will continue praying. Listen to tape 3 again. Write down those negative thoughts and how to change them to positive. Don't worry, problem solve. God bless you Dave with an abundant life!
