Ive been having a problem for the past few months and seems to just be getting worse and worse. About 3 yrs ago I gave my life to The Lord and I had such a passion to go to church and read the Bible and spend time with God, but it seems as time went on I lost some of that desire. I still love the Lord with all my heart and I know that I feel His presence at times, but Im not sure why I dont feel as much of a desire to go to church or read. I know that I do not know a whole lot about scripture and I was listening to a lot of different information from friends, from teaching cds, from preachers on tv, and from my pastor. But didnt know what is true and what is not and so I ended up trying to put it all together and ended up more confused and "trying" to be this and that and just getting aggravated with what I wasnt able to do or be. Could someone please give me some spiritual guidance with this? Thanks Jen

Hi Jen,

The best thing you can do is pray for God to give you understanding as you read His word.

Everyone will have different opinions, including pastors. That is why it is important for you to read the scriptures yourself. God desires us to have a personal relationship with Him and as we seek Him, He will give us understanding and discernment to know what is of Him and what is not.

And just be yourself with Him. He knows all your thoughts, fears, worries, cares, everything! Just talk to Him like you would your best friend - cause He is. :)
Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

It's so important also for you to have fellowship with other Christians. We are called to be connected to one another through Christ. It's been said that there are no Lone Ranger Christians. It's so easy to fall out of fellowship with the Lord when you don't have or fall out of fellowship with other Christians. It will make a world of difference. Hope this helps. I pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal His Truth to you and give you the "ears" to hear His Word. God bless you.

Hi, Jen--I think you have received some great advice. Just remember that the "destroyer" is out to get you. So you aren't always going to want to search the scriptures. But try your best to at least read one word or scripture quote to get you motivated.

Keep a prayer in your heart as you go about your day, things will get easier as you take "baby steps" along the way.

Thats what Ive been trying to do Paisleegreen. Just a little at a time, but I did just recently finish reading the whole book of John which Im very proud of myself for because thats the first time Ive done that with any book in the Bible. There were some things that I read that registered in my spirit but some that was just reading. Im sure that God gives us what we need when he knows we are ready for it so I'll exactly what you said and keep taking "baby steps" Thank you all so very much for your input. It has helped alot. I guess one thing that has really bothered me is that I dont "feel" like I learn something everyday and then I wonder if Im really even a Christian and is God really here with me. But realistically I do know that He is and I am, otherwise I wouldnt have a desire to seek Him at all...
