Ok this probably the 10th time I've posted about this topic but I am a constant worrier. I would like anybody who has LASIK reply to me (positive stuff only please) I had it in Nov 2006 and don't have any real problems, some dry eye still, headlights at night bother my eyes. I had my eyes checked recently and they are healed fine and my vision is 20/20, not as clear with my left eye though. I just worry since there is no long term data on LASIK that some weird problems may arise in years to come because I decided to have it done, makes me feel guilty for some weird reason like maybe I should have left my eyes alone, but I had real reasons why I needed to have it done. I know it's just a stupid obsessing in the future thought that I need to stop. I just don't really know anyone else who had it done and of course I looked on the internet (big mistake) and it all says bad stuff. I worry too if my eyes end up getting worse (I didn't have a real strong prescription to begin with)I would never get an "enhancement" because I hated having it done and the recovery. I just worry a lot about stupid things and can't get this 1 thought out of my head. Any replies would be great and make me feel better. Thanks!

Hi,
I had it done on both eyes in March of 2005. My surgeon did it that I had blended vision which I guess was one eye saw better close up and the other was great for distance. I ended up having the eye that was stronger for close up re-done a year later because I just was not seeing that great for distance and that was why. I had that done last year and am doing fine. I use lubricating drops every day. The second surgery was much easier than the first because the (eye surgeon) have the flap already cut from the first surgery and they just lift it up with a little tool and do the laser touchup. Relax and enjoy the opportunity to see the world clearer without glasses. To me, it has been a blessing not having to put glasses on in the morning just to see the alarm clock and TV. We will be fine.

I had lasik in 2000. I had astigmitism in both eyes. I am still very happy with the results. For me, the dr said worst case scenerio would be reading glasses in the years to come. I also have family members that have had it done and are very happy to have done it. I think the advice given prior, to relax and enjoy your vision is perfect. I used to fall asleep watching TV in my glasses and wake up to find them crushed underneath me. It is nice to not have that extra worry. Good luck and here's to "seeing" a brighter future. :)

I commend all of you, my "big" step was contacts! (ha ha). Really, if anything, you should be patting yourself on the back for getting it done!! What an improvement! You'll been fine. Enjoy your great vision and I'll think of all of you when my contact is falling in the dirty sink every morning!

I had LASIK about a year ago. I see great now, I love it! Don't worry. I know what you mean about worrying that there is no long term data, but by the time anything would happen to your eyes because of the LASIK (which is unlikey), technology will have come up with some way to fix it or to make it better! Look how many people have had the surgery.
Easy to say, I know. I am a worrier too. But with this I just really feel like it will be fine.

LASIK was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I am a mother of a 3 year old and a 1 year old and that means a lot of waking up in the middle of the night. This translated to sleeping in my contacts so that I could see what I was doing when I had to check on my kids; after 20 years, it was starting to take a toll on the health of my eyes. Dr. Wiles is so informative and has such a calm demeanor; he put me at ease even though I was nervous about the procedure. He went through all of the steps involved in the treatment so that I knew exactly what to expect. I appreciate everything he has done to make my vision what it is today. I can now see 20/20 with no help."
