Big Al,
I went through the same thing a few months ago. I was confirmed in high school and prayer the sinner's prayer years later. In November, I finally sat down with a preacher and he walked me through God's plan of salvation. I just wasn't sure at the time that I would go to heaven. I hoped but wasn't sure.
I copied this from a website hoping this may help you. If in doubt, pray it again and rededicate your self to the Lord. Or have your pastor walk you through it. You will feel tons better. Keep us posted.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.
—Romans 10:9,10 (NLT)

Jesus loves you so much that He died to save you from your sin, guilt and all of sin’s consequences. He rose from the dead and is the only way to God, the Father. One heartfelt decision to accept Jesus’ sacrifice for your sin will cause you to become God’s child.

Pray this prayer aloud and mean it with all of your heart:

Father, I come to you just as I am. There is nothing I can do to earn salvation. I cannot work my way into a right relationship with You. The Bible says that we are saved by grace through faith as a gift from You. I acknowledge that I have sinned against You and others. I ask You to forgive me and wash me clean with the precious, life-giving blood of Jesus Christ, Your Son. I believe that He died for me—He took my sin upon Himself when He died on the cross. I believe that He was raised from the dead, giving me power over the enemy. Jesus, I ask You to come live inside of me. I don't understand everything about being a Christian, but I invite You into my life to help me learn daily how to live. Thank You, Father, for Your gift of restoration and eternal life. I am so grateful for Your love and mercy. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The Bible promises that when you sincerely speak a prayer like the one you’ve just prayed, you will experience a new life in Christ.
"Here and happy because of my three little angels- Marie, Chad and Cady."

OCD can really mess with you, you could have Jesus himself tell you face to face and yet you would still question your salvation. God Bless

Al,

You are not alone and you are in a good place!! My first real experience with anxiety was over this issue. I thought I was unredeemable because I had backslidden in my teen years.

If you are worried about your position before God then you have clearly recognized your need for salvation. That is where God wants us, in a place where you know of your need for him; it is a good place! Your salvation is not based on your works or how you feel, but God's promise in his word. If you have confessed Jesus as your savior, asked for forgiveness and repented from your sin, YOU ARE SAVED NO MATTER HOW YOU FEEL! Your worry, however, is an attack from the enemy because if you feel unworthy then you are not working for the kingdom.

Brother, if you were not a child of God and destined for his good works, then you would not be getting interference from the enemy.

I have been there and I know exactly how you feel. I just want you to know that God wants to deliver you from this and I believe you are here for a reason.

I think that Christians who question their salvation are proving, in way, that they are in the faith because they recognize their need and examining themselves to see if they are in the faith. The billions on their way to Hell probably think that they have lived a good enough life and they must be going to Heaven: how tragic.

Please read Galations and the Psalms. God wants you to rest in his peace but for some reason he doesn't miracle us straight into it.

I know that sin is real and separates us from God, be honest about sin in your life, confess it and turn away. But, if you are wondering whether or not everyhthing you are doing is sin and God is just waiting to cast you away, that is from the enemy.

Al, God has his arm around you right now and wants you to know that he has great plans for you! I am no spiritual giant and don't get visions from the Lord, that is just what I know about his love for us.

In Christ,

Steve

I have suffered with something similar for 35 yrs. When I was younger I didn't know anything about ocd. It was about 15 yrs ago I was told about this condition. I know that I have been saved thru the blood of Jesus at the age of 10. When I am in church and the invitation is given I feel that I need to go forward and be saved. This I have done several times but the same feelings are still there. I have avoided going to church to escape this. I know that this is ocd but the feelings are so real. I will continue to trust in God and pray that He will help me thru this program. God bless you. Was

hi ,I also am a christian. You only need to ask Jesus to be your Lord @ Savior once.I'm sure you're familiar with the verse that says "Jesus will never leave or forsake you,or the one that speaks of how nothing can come between us & our God,or the one that says He,s closer to us than our breath.Once you've given yourself to Jesue nothing can snatch Him away.

I also suffer with ocd.I have for 35 years.Actually I believe it's been even longer than that. When I think back to my childhood their we're signs back then.It is a most miserable condition to live with, affecting every area of ones life,or at least mine. It's nothing short of a miracle that I've actually held down a full time job.I give God the credit for thst.God will help you thru this.

hi all,

I am of the belief that Salvation does not depend so much on you, but on what Yeshua, Jesus' true name, did for us when he came down off His throne, to die for our sins and become our pascal lamb. He is our propitation, our scape goat, if you will, for our sins.

Aside from repenting from our sins and accepting the sacrifice He made for us, nothing else matters. So it is not so much if you are saved, but how you were saved, everything else pales in comparison.

Isn't it comforting to know that Salvation is not so much up to us, but what He did for us. It is by His precious blood that our sins are paid up in full, and nothing else we do, or choose to do; matters. It really is that simple. All else just complicates and confuses that simple truth for us.

Maybe now you can understand why the Ethiopian man jumped with glee and ran off, when the Apostle Phillip read and explained the fulfillment of the promise that Yeshua represents. The Gospel of Yeshua Christos.

It's not up to us. All we can do is screw things up. I think we can all breathe easier because all this, and you should too. I do not want to get into a debate about other philosophy and but I also believe, as John Calvin did, in the simple principal that "once saved, always saved..." In my view for those that want to debate it, is what part of the mansions do you want to live in? :D
All for His praise, glory and the joy it gives Him.

GMAN:
I think that that is a very comforting word on Salvation and a good one.
I have also heard and read that salvation doesn't depend on how you 'feel'.
Feelings can be fickle at times based on one's emotional state. And even mental state.
But that simple truth as you explained it ,is always the same truth, no matter how you feel.

That was very good. Thank you for that.

Thanks Cornflower.

It's just a simple thing I know as revealed to me through study of the word. I guess it was my time, and I needed it. :D

Right on, all good advice and direction from the others, Big-Al, challenge those lying feelings, emotions, thinking that attack your salvation AS SOON AS THEY COME. I have spent many a panic attack sure that God had rejected me, it was just lying emotions and low self worth speaking thoughts into my mind that weren't true. Read the hundreds of Bible promises that are yours in Christ, such as God will NEVER leave you or forsake you, and has such great plans for you. Remember God saved you when you believed, and has given you to Jesus. All that being said, trust God totally with your salvation. Remember the thief on the cross in Luke 23, he confessed his own sin, confessed his faith in Jesus, asking Jesus to remember him when He came into his kingdom, and Jesus gave him an immediate answer of YES. for him there wasn't time to do "everything right". Read John 17:20-26 especially verse 24. this is where Jesus prayed for you and all of us. Jesus is not about some correct formula, God is about Loving YOU as his child. YOU are why Jesus endured the agony of the cross, so He could keep you and all who will believe in Him, forever. He loves you more than you can possibly imagine, always keep this uppermost in your mind. keep reading and posting, especially if you begin to have doubts.
