I have recently developed a case of high blood pressure. It seems like it is only high in the Dr. office or when I am thinking about all the possible difficulties related to high BP. I just had a baby via emergency Csection and have had a very high level of anxiety since then. I'm concerned about my BP. At home it is normal 90% of the time. Yesterday at my midwive's office it was high at first but after a few minutes of breathing and lying down it read normal. I think about my blood pressure obsessively. Everytime I see a BP machine I get a panic attack. Does anyone know if anxiety can cause blood pressure to rise? I've read some things that say it can and other things that say BP is purely controlled by physiological problems, that in fact emotions cannot affect it. Anyone???

What I can say is that before I learned about this program - Lucinda's, I first visited my physician who had me on Metropolol to control my heart rate. I was diagnosed for stress-related symptoms. The doctor sent me to a psychiatrist because my aches were not going away but my BP and heart rates were controlled due to the above medication. The psychiatrist had me stop the Metropolol and got me on Klonopin. I still check my BP weekly and see no issues especially as I progressed in Lucinda's program.

The statement that emotions cannot cause high blood pressure is totally false, ask any doctor or anyone in the medical field. It is one of the main causes. I, and many others here, has gone through what you are. It's called "white coat syndrome". It's when you get stressed out and your blood pressure goes up only when you come in contact with hospitals, doctors and when your vitals are being taken( which includes taking blood pressure).

I don't have to tell you my story because it's exactly the same as what you wrote about yourself. As your axiety lessens and as you do the program it will get better and it will happen less and less.
