I was feeling so good, and then a couple days ago I started having more obsessive thoughts and anxious moments. I am due to start my period in a few days. Do you other ladies have worse anxiety symptoms that time of the month? What do you do about it? I already take zoloft and xanax as needed. I really don't know if there are any other drugs for hormones or if you think birth control would help? Any ideas I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance.

YES!!! Oh my goodness do I ever!!! I have a alternate doctor that I work with and he said that when we go through the major hormonal drop or increase (can't remember which) your Gaba (neurotransmitter) drops which increases anxiety! Makes me feel so much better knowing every time my period gets near that's what can happen and that's ok!

does he have you take any supplements to help? Or does your doctor recommend you just ride it out. Probably just another wonderful part of being a woman(haha). Thanks for the reply..

Well, he told me that I could take Stress Arrest. It's a supplement from a company called Designs for Health that is basically GABA which supports the Gaba neurotransmitter. I don't know what kind of meds you might be on but you might want to consider finding an alternative medical doctor that is open to working with amino acids to help support your neurotransmitters.

Back about a month ago I couldn't hardly get off of the couch because my anxiety and depression was SOOO bad and I was having Panic Attacks almost Daily. He put me on certain amino acids (which is what your body already naturally produces) to support my dopamine level and well all of the neurotransmitters. It's been a slow progress but it has helped a lot. I just got my Cd's for this program Wednesday and I can see the benefits that I can and will receive. Pressing on.....

I'm sure I'm a whole lot older than you. You'd think then I'd be better at this, but I'm not. IT IS SO FRUSTRATING!!! For me, for many years already I've taken xanax like 4 days in a row. The past year I've been on ativan (lorazepanm) for 4 days in a row. Everytime I think this month I'll get thru esp. with the program now. Nope, last night I could feel it coming. I try to run in place cuz I just have jittery, crying type feelings. I HATE IT! Finally I said, take the darn pill already. Then I "what if" I'll have to stay on this the rest of my life. Well as Lucinda would say, "No Big Deal". If it helps me function better, so be it. Many people on here get off their meds., If I do, it would be nice. If I don't well, don't beat myself up over it. Hope that helps. Exercising more is supposed to help. I'm trying a new powder drink called Reliv that's supposed to help. I'm going to call someone now to get more info. Think I'll post to see if anyone has tried it or is on it.

The pre period days and the week of bring me more anxiety and obsessive thinking. This month for some reason my period is just going off and i am still feeling the added anxiety. I take Yaz BC. I can't really say if its helping or if the program is helping . I have been a lot more tired than usual, i am still some what moody and i get bad headaches , Yaz is supposed to help with anxiety and depression. I feel 90% better than I did in Sept but again I started the pill and the program the same week so i am not really sure which is helping.

Without a doubt I had more panic and anxiety around that time of the month. I tried all the meds but it was not until I joined a CBT group and learned how to use a TEA form from the book by Sam Obitz & Michelle Craske to counter my thoughts and not blow things out of proportion all the time that I found relief. I'm probably still more susceptible around that time of the month but I am continuing to use the TEA form and it has been very helpful in managing my anxieties all the time.

I take YAZ, but it doesn't seem to help. I am more anxious than before. The arguments between my boyfriend and I are less because I take over the counter PMS pills to drowse me. But my emotions are worse, my head is feeling like a tornato again, and I can't stand that feeling.
