I know I'm not alone in this from watching the news every day. I went from a very well paid construction management position to being unemployed overnight. Now my fears and depression over getting a job are eating me alive. All of the negative self talk is only convincing me all the more that things are terrible and only can get worse. The level of fear welling up in me only scares me more. Am I alone, will it continue to get worse?

Hello JD....I just read your post and can totally relate. My husband lost his job as a superintedant in construction after being employed for this company for 18 years, 6 weeks ago and we have lost a very significant income. We have two kids in school that we pay tuition for. I am a nurse and I work in the school department and thought I would just go back to the hospital and make more money that way. The hospitals in our city all have a hiring freeze on. So yes, the econonmy is rough...and both my husband and I are experiencing depression and anxiety. I think it is normal to be experiencing these feelings. It is a huge loss and the future is uncertain. However, we are pro-active and looking for alternative ways to save and are entertaining other sources of income. I think we need to go through the grief process in order to find peace with the situation. Because for me, I can very easily get really down if I allow my mind to take over. Just get up every day and look for job, count your blessings, enjoy the summer, collect unemployment, find some hobbies to keep you busy, pray, meditate, catch up with friend and family and use this time to rest your mind/body, re-evaluate your life and work on yourself. All this can be done inbetween looking for a job. I really understand your situation and I feel for you. Keep remembering that this is temporary and you will survive. It will all be OK....if you're in construction, there are lots of residential work out there. If you do some "side jobs" along with your unemployment benefits, you will see that you can make almost as much as you were making. It's a matter of survival and you'll be OK. But again, I think it is normal to be so stressed and feel the symptoms of anxiety and depression...but try not to wallow in it. Get pro-active. My best to you....fingers crossed this economy will pick up very soon.

I think this is a rough time for everyone. Every where you look; jobs are being lost!!!

I guess we just have to cling to our faith, and trust God to take care of us!!! He promised that He would supply our needs, and that we would not have to beg for bread!!!!

I just give it all to Him, since, I have no control over this one!!!

My motto is..."Let go, and let God"...
