I have a mate that has had cancer for 10 years and we have been through every major form of chemo for ovarian cancer. My standard line is winning the battles need to win the war. the problem is I feel like a babysitter and would like to have time for me to go off and do stuff like ride my bike. I keep myself busy with work and will not sit down long enough to watch reality tv or any other crap on tv. thank god my daughter is here for my wife.

Just looking for a few words of encouragement.

thanks.

Hello jsw,

I'm sorry for your situation. Is your wife active at all, or is she bed ridden? Whatever the situation you absoultely need time for yourself. Is there anyone like your daughter, a close friend or other relative you can ask to stay with your wife for a few hours so you can see a movie, ride your bike or anything you need to relax. You are not going to be able to continue this way. It is usually woman who are caretakers and evidence is showing the caretakers health going bad due to lack of self care. I am sure the same applies for both genders. Please find a way to have time for yourself.
