Hi,

I am finding that daily meditation helps everything so much!

Just prior to starting this program, my counsellor and many others in the field of meditation, all told me that the best meditation to practice for anxiety/OCD is without a doubt, Vipassana meditation.

This meditation is very simple to do. You just watch your thoughts - you become an observer and it is all based on loving kindness to yourself and giving it freely to others. 15-20 minutes a day gives positive results. It is very beautiful indeed.

Metta (loving kindness)

Hi Adrian. I was just wondering if you could give some more info on this meditation you are talking about. I have been looking into meditation myslef but cannot find one that really works more than the relaxation tape. Thanks!

Hi gemini0521,

I would be more than happy to!

If you go to http://www.urbandharma.org/pdf...in_plain_english.pdf the book Mindfulness In Plain English will download for you to read and practice from. The attachment is too large for me to attach to this posting. I found it a very wonderful experience. My goal is to practice 10-20 minutes of meditation daily, but if life gets too busy and I miss a day or two, I do not beat myself up over it. I like to use the phrase, "it is what it is", and then I get on with it the next day. :D The following is a description of Vipassana meditation - I hope you enjoy it:

Vipassana, which means to "see things as they really are", is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation. It was rediscovered by Gotama Buddha more than 2500 years ago and was taught by him as a universal remedy for universal ills, i.e., an Art Of Living.

This non-sectarian technique aims for the total eradication of mental impurities and the resultant highest happiness of full liberation. Healing, not merely the curing of diseases, but the essential healing of human suffering, is its purpose.

Vipassana is a way of self-transformation through self-observation. It focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body, which can be experienced directly by disciplined attention to the physical sensations that form the life of the body, and that continuously interconnect and condition the life of the mind. It is this observation-based, self-exploratory journey to the common root of mind and body that dissolves mental impurity, resulting in a balanced mind full of love and compassion.

The scientific laws that operate one's thoughts, feelings, judgments and sensations become clear. Through direct experience, the nature of how one grows or regresses, how one produces suffering or frees oneself from suffering is understood. Life becomes characterized by increased awareness, non-delusion, self-control and peace.
