Well I shared this with my own support group, and a few of them said it helped so I figured I should share it with everyone! I have heard that visualizing while thinking is very good so when I have a negative thought I visualize it as a weed, if I don't pull it out it will grow and multiply, so I pull it out and replace it with a positive thought, maybe a flower etc. But while doing this, squeeze the tips of your thumb and pointer finger. That way you will get the visualization, the thought, and the sense of touch while doing this little activity. Then for 2 minutes change your breathing and think only positive thoughts for two minutes or until the feeling dissipates from your fingertips.
Live in your world get pwned in mine.

Lol hey Emma. Yah I really like the pulling out weeds idea, I also wear rubber bands on my wrists and snap them sometimes when I get panicky or think a negative thought. That has seemed to help as well.

Hehe you can refer to me as Doink if you like. I probably should have picked a name that rolls a little easier off the tongue =P But I always use this screen name and I know no one has it =D

This post is really a good one doink. A very creative idea that I for one can remember easily.

Believe it or not I actually find weed pulling (literally) a good distraction and it also has the added benefits of being good exercise and beneficial for the lawn and plants.

I think that this analogy basically mirrors the program in that we are supposed to replace those negative thoughts with positive ones.

I for one will keep pulling those weeds (both literally and as per your post !!!).

Emma I'm glad that you used it and it worked! You're so awesome :)

Lol Tallboy yes it is good both literally and figuratively =P I just find it really helps me when I can visualize and feel something while I'm thinking, it helps to distract everything even body symptoms sometimes. Thank you for your reply =D

hey all I really like this idea of visualizing pulling weeds with regards to negative thoughts.
I think what this does is also helps to slow down your thoughts so you can really hear what your saying to yourself.
