Fear because of freak things that happen.

Okay, I'm a guy. But in my case, it's been awhile since I've driven a stick-shift car. Well, I was helping a guy get unstuck from the ice, and he asked me to drive the car. I had a better skill of getting the car unstuck than he did, but GUESS WHAT? He was probably wondering why I kept revving the engine, but in reality, my foot was looking for the brake pedal. I'm glad that I didn't put a hole through his garage (that's where we parked the car), or worse yet, injure or kill someone! I am making WAYtoo big of deal about this. Most people would laugh, but I always think frightening thoughts like: Am I losing my mind, or WHAT IFthis or that happened. I have to somehow get myself out of this rut.

Hi there! It's ok to have apprehensive thoughts. Sometimes if you don't think about what could have happend we do end up injuring ourselves or others. Just be thankful your parking job ended well and don't dwell on it. That's one thing I've been working on and it's HARD. I had someone the other day almost hit me and my kids. My first reaction was I was pissed then within seconds I talked myself into it's ok they didn't see me and we all were fine. It won't happen over night but talking to yourself like you would a friend will take practice but you can do it. Hope all goes well.

Thanks, Team Mom. You know it's possible I was just having a bad day with this. I DO beat myself up quite a bit. Always thinking and assuming there's something wrong with me and my thinking. It sometimes helps to share with others. Thanks!
