I am 61 years old and have suffered from low self esteem most of my life. It is difficult to manage if you grew up thinking that you we were not important. Low self esteem effects every aspect of our lives.
I know from experience that self talk hurts! It is crazy because we are doing it to ourselves.
I feel that counselors, psychiatrists , good friends and family are tools but when it comes down to it, it is really up to us and our drive to get ourselves out of the deep hole that we find ourselves in.
No, it is not easy but anything that is so vital to our being takes alot of hard work.
What works for one person may not work for you.
Sometimes, the very same people that love us the most can say damaging words and I find that because they never experienced low self esteem
they can't even begin to understand.
Best Wishes and may 2009 be our year.
