I finally realized that I am afraid of choking on my tongue and having a seizure when I'm in a panic. I still have to get that out of my head! But at least I think I've come close to pinpointing what it is that I fear the most out of my panic attack. Of course, passing out and losing control gets in there too, but the choking thing really gets me.

Anyone else have this problem?????

Hi there!

I don't know if this will help any but I thought it might help even a teensy bit. I am a nurse practitioner student and I'd like you to know it is impossible to swallow your tongue! Choking on one's tongue during unconscious is technically possible but it is very VERY unlikely - in my 5 years as a paramedic and my 2 years as a nurse I have never seen this, nor have my colleagues.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever had a seizure? Anyway, that choking feeling ( one of my most recent patients had this same phobia) is most likely attributed to the tightening of the muscle in the throat due to anxiety - an equally harmless, but scary occurrence.

Well, I hope a medical perspective helps a bit as I have experienced it can sometimes help. Just keep working with the CDs and keep in mind that this is medically impossible (swallowing) and improbable!

Yes, I agree 100% with Love this Life.
I am a Registered Nurse and had never seen anyone swallow their tongues. Also worked as an EMT and in an ER. Hope this alleviates some emotional turmoil for Anderson and Susan. creamcheese
