I alwasy think im bout to have a heart attack. Its not pounding out of my chest it will seriously like just flutter or pause. Any others that do this alot??? It scares the crap out of me. I cant look on web md because I will end up going to the hospital as I have made many trips there already this for just looking stuff up. I keep hearing they are harmless but Its very annoying and frustrating. I want to go to the hospital and tell them im not leaving until they make it stop or figure out why I have them!! so sad :(

Hello healingsoon, have you been to a cardiologist? I have these too and have been to 3 cardiologists and 2 EP doctors as I have had the heart palpitations aka pvcs as often as every other beat. They can be very scary but are benign in a structually sound heart. And since you have had EKG's and blood work, it sounds like you have been checked out pretty well.

Try to relax and de-stress as much as possible as that will help alot. Also, ask what your potassium was on your blood work. Mine seemed to run a bit low and they have me on a supplement which I think has helped too.

And honestly, sometimes they come and go without rhyme or reason. :rolleyes

It can wear you out trying to figure them out! And yes, webmd can list the worse possible cases and make you more scared. I have found one forum that has helped me in the past - it is called uncommonforum. It is for anxiety but has a specific thread for pvcs and the people are very nice and compassionate. I hope you are able to find peace in the midst of dealing with these.

One more thing, if you are a woman, they can be hormonally related too. Especially if you are in perimenopause. Wishing you peace.

I get heart palpitations too, especially after I eat a lot of sugar. That's why I can't drink energy drinks or coffee. It makes my heart beat really fast, and gives me anxiety, cause I get paranoid I'm gonna have a heart attack. But they do go away, fortunately. Just think positive, and what might help you is to go for a run or do something physical to not only keep your mind off the anxiety and palpitations, but also to just make you feel physically better. Hope this helps :)

do you also get a little pain where your heart is? I get it sometimes, and that's what triggers anxiety the most for me. It's not bad pain, it's just really slight but I still get it in my head that something's wrong when their really isn't.

I had lab tests, ekgs and heart monitor and they said nothings wrong. But sometimes I think somethings wrong. When I start thinking something wrong or its a heart attack, I think of a stop sign in front of me and take deep breaths and say to myself nothings wrong with me it just anxiety. I works sometimes.
hopefull

I've had bouts of palpitations that have resulted in my going to the ER more than a few times. I am now seeing a cardiologist who so far hasn't found any mechanical problem, but each time I've been in the ER, one of my electrolytes has been low--either the potassium, or this last time I had a dangerously low Phosphorus level that required my being admitted. Has anybody out there had that happen? None of the doctors can answer my questions as to what could cause this. Even when I've asked if it could be stress-driven, they don't think so or don't know. If it wasn't caused by stress, it certainly caused some, so I'm working at it from that angle.

I looked up the definition online.

A palpitation is an abnormality of heartbeat that causes a conscious awareness of its beating,[1] whether it is too slow, too fast, irregular, or at its normal frequency. The word may also refer to this sensation itself. [2] It can be caused by (but should not be confused with) ectopic beat, which is a more specific diagnosis.

The difference between an abnormal awareness and a normal awareness is that the former interrupts other thoughts, whereas the latter is almost always caused by a concentration on the beating of one's heart. Palpitations may be brought on by overexertion, adrenaline, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, cocaine, amphetamines, and other drugs, disease (such as hyperthyroidism and pheochromocytoma) or as a symptom of panic disorder. More colloquially, it can also refer to a shaking motion. It can also happen in mitral stenosis.

Hop this helps,

Healinsgsoon, do not worry. I used to have a MAJOR problem with heart palpitations. I had all of the work ups done. Nothing is wrong with my heart. My primary care doc. said, "I think it's all in your head." My cardiologist said, "I think you should talk to a therapist." They got frustrated because I kept harping on the fact that these skipped or premature or too late beats were going to make me drop dead one day. I actually do go to a therapist, and talking with her about them has helped so much. Because it actually is all in my head. I rarely get them anymore. If I think to myself, "I haven't had a heart palpitation in a while," I'll actually have one. It shows how powerful our minds really are. Good luck, but try not to worry. I know SO many people with this benign condition. The truth is that when you eventually stop worrying, you won't experience them as much. I know it's easier said than done, just have patience.

I suffer from this as well. When it happens it scares the crap out of me. I have noticed it happens to me more around that time of month. Not sure if maybe it has something to do with hormones.
