Work Stress

Post by Scott45a » Wed Jul 27, 2011 6:21 pm

Hey guys. I'm new to the program and have been following the steps as best as I can. I have been using the relaxation cd and the vitamins and everything seems to be working well. I still am having trouble dealing with the stress in my job. I have been doing great with going for a run every morning to make myself feel better but when I get about 5 min away from my job I start stressing out. I have been able to talk myself down every morning (with the help from the cards) to the point where I can put in a full day, but just the thought of how angry I get with the people at work stresses me out. Any idea's on how I can calm down at work? I feel that I put to much pressure on myself in my job. I just need to learn how to relax at work and not put so much pressure on myself.

Scott45,
Welcome! Thats great your doing the program. You will learn many things that will help you control the way you deal with stress. I must add that it is a process and takes time. But if you work the program you will deal so much better.

I'm not sure where you are in the program sessions. I love the cards and carry them depending on my situation and how I am feeling. They really are helpful.

Can you think of what at work is stressing you out? The anger session will be helpful to you. Expectations as well. Self talk is a good one too. You did not give any specifics so its is very hard to generally give some ideas for coping better. I too put high expectations on myself, this program will address these as well.

So to calm down at work, slow down and pay closer attention to what starts to wind you up. Is it how much you have to do? People in general? Do the people say things, their work ethic? I think you get where I'm going with all this. I try to break things down so I can change the way I address things. Being assertive was a big problem for me.

I hope something in here helps you, good luck! ;)
