Waking up depressed
Two weeks into the program. I hope it will help. I have been waking up depressed. I stay shaky all day. Have had depression issues before and part of my anxiety is the fear of going through that again. I feel I have not been "right" for a year now. Have had panic attacks before, but loss of job of 25 years brought them back. I have had hyperventaliton in the mornings and some overwhelming sense of fear. Some of that has passed but the shakiness remains. Anyone had similar responses?
My problem is simular but not quite the same. I wake up exausted with a vage memory of a lot of running. It makes it hard to go though the day as I am so tired. I am not sure what to do about it but I suspect that continuing with the relaxaction tape and lots of positive self talk will eventually make it better.
You are not alone. Hang in there and keep working on it. It will get better.

There seems to be a never ending cycle here...the anxiety leads to depression the depression leads to anxiety..over and over again. I get that way myself, with the overwhelming sense of fear and sometimes maybe shakyness (depending on whats going on in my life). In those situations i'm learning to make a choice. I can keep focusing on it and make myself worse or I can focus on stopping and changing the negative thoughts. Sometimes its as easy as saying "its just a thought" and then focusing on breathing.
Something that else might help is to reassure yourself that as long as you keep making effort to recover, you're going to get better. You simply cannot stay in the same position you're in if you are making effort to get out of it. You're like a ship sailing...You might have been heading towards a bad place but if you can change where your sailing by a few degrees, you'll end up in a whole diffrent place.
