Re: Habitual Worry

I've noticed that positive self talk has helped me a lot. I read the card that went along with this session to myself every time I started to feel anxious. And I elaborate and tell myself other things that I want to hear that make me feel better. With regards to not sleeping at night, I had the same...

Re: Habitual Worry

I'm glad you got a kick out of my color-coded journal. It's fun for me to look back on all the things I have tried and how much I have grown and changed since then. As for my perfectionistic tendencies, I'm not 100% sure where they all come from, but I have identified a few things. I'm naturally ver...

Re: HOW do you stop worrying about what others think??

Before starting this program, I read a book called "Loving What Is," by Byron Katie. She has another book called "I Need Your Love--Is That True?: How to Stop Seeking Love, Approval, and Appreciation and Start Finding Them Instead." I'm anxious to read that book because the one I read was so helpful...

Re: Habitual Worry

I can totally understand what you mean about wanting to be perfect about what you put in your journal. I've felt that way before too. In the past, I color coded the things I wrote about. I wrote about one topic in black, another topic in blue, etc. I've also tried creating sections in my journal for...

Priorities

Has anyone else found that the self talk you engage in each day is based on your priorities? I thought about the things I often feel the worst about and I realized that it was largely based on the fact that I put things that I can't control as a high priority in my life. For instance, I want to be l...

Re: Habitual Worry

I do get a little anxious sometimes, but not nearly as much as I used to. When I do get anxious, it's probably a level three. It hasn't gotten worse than that for the past few weeks. Do you still feel anxious a lot of the time? I've found that telling myself it's just anxiety and then using positive...

Re: Didnt do enough

I found some comfort in knowing that I can control whether or not those things happen to me. I recognize that those are awful possibilities, but I know that I can talk myself through it and prevent those things from happening. Have you tried telling yourself that it's just anxiety or reading the car...

Re: Habitual Worry

Yay!! I am so proud of you for buying a journal! That is awesome. It sounds like you're already making progress and I am happy for you. And I'm glad you are able to find things for which to be grateful. That is a huge blessing. How was your experience with writing in your journal today? Was it as st...

Re: Habitual Worry

Yes, I do write in a journal. I personally find it very helpful. It forces me to define my fears simply. This helps me realize what is actually bothering me since often I obsessively think about things and make them into a much bigger issue than they need to be. I can understand why it feels scarier...

Re: Habitual Worry

The biggest help has been spending time with my sister. We made brownies together for fathers' day and then stayed up late crocheting and watching movies together. Today we went running together, and then danced at a community concert. We joke around a lot and reminisce about childhood. We like writ...
