I was wondering if anyone with recurring anxiety bouts have had it come back as a result of not taking their AD long enough. I am on my 3rd round of Lexapro, but I was wondering if my anxiety is back because its going to be lifelong, or because maybe I didnt take the AD long enough.

To answer your question, I have taken Lexapro 2 x and both times it definitely caused extra anxiety when I started it and when I increased the dosage. Alot of people (including me now) use a Xanax like benzo to get them through the beginning period. It helps tremendously. I am always afraid ...

Miche~How did you find out that your estrogen level was whacked out half way through your cycle? What were your symptoms?

oh and to answer your question. Each time I increased the dosage, I felt extra anxiety for a few days and then it leveled out. It never lasted more than 10 days. But thats why the xanax is important.

Both times I took Lex, I started at 2.5 fro 4 days since Im very sensitive to meds. But I realized that the 5mg is not going to be much different (as I have the extra anxiety when starting up anyway) so why not speed up the process. It is very important that you ask your dr for xanax like pills ...

TRy to remember although you feel horrible now, things will not stay this way. Once the meds take full effect, you will feel so much better. Unfortunately alot of them make you feel worse before you feel better. Just pray, breath and think of the future when you will be better.

UPDATE: Just an update to help those who are new to this.... Last year at this time, I was soooo worried the lexapro wasnt working on my second go round. Well, after 5 MONTHS of weaning up in total and 2 FULL months at 20 mgs, it FINALLY kicked in and I felt like myself again.

I am on lex for about 3 months now. One month at 10mg, one month at 15mg and now a month at 20. Every time after I start to feel a little better, the anxiety comes back after a few weeks of the increase. Is this normal- or do I need to keep increasing it? I dont want to go much higher.
