Re: Living With Dysthymia

What you wrote could have been written about me. I have been depressed all my life. I have tried practically everything to treat it, but, for me, anti-depressants do not work, and a few drugs have worked for a week or two, then they stop working. So, I am at the point where I realize I have to live ...

TMS

Has anyone tried TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) for either anxiety and/or depression? I have, with some success. I would be interested to know if anyone else has, and what their experiences were. Thanks.

Re: TMS

The easiest way to find out more about it is to Google transcranial magnetic stimulation, or Neurostar, which is the company that makes the machine. Good luck. I hope you find some good information there.

TMS

Has anyone tried TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) for depression and/or anxiety? I have done it, and had a certain degree of success. I know it is very expensive, and not necessarily available on a widespread basis. I would love to hear others" experiences.

Re: Does anyone feel like their always "checking"?

I don't know if I feel exactly like what you are talking about, but I always feel that I am taking my "emotional temperature." So, during the course of a day,I am functioning on one level, but underneath that, I am questioning myself, sort of seeing how I am doing anxiety-wise. Because I do this, I ...

Re: I've yet to find anything that will work for me...

I hope that you have had a chance to read the Dr. Liebgold book. I understand very well what you say about not learning anything when you have a panic attack, except how to be more afraid. And then your world shrinks more, as you start to avoid more things. All that is addressed in the book, more cl...

Re: I've yet to find anything that will work for me...

I read your post and thought, "that was (and to a certain extent, still is) me!" I have a lot to say. I, too have tried almost everything...acupuncture, medications (anti-depressants, none of which worked for me ), therapy, meditation, "toughing it out", vitamins, prayer, etc., etc. So I know how yo...

Dear Nugget...Having read your post, it struck me that depression is, among other things, a loss of interest in everything. That is not how you describe what you are feeling. It sounded to me that you are just not letting things get to you, as thay once did, and I see that as a sign of being more "c...

I wonder if this happens to anyone else. I am recovering from the flu, and although I have been doing well with anxiety and panic attacks, now that I still don't feel well, I am having anxiety at times and places that I thought I had already dealt with and "conquered", so to speak. I feel like I hav...

I feel like a "flunkie", and want to know if there are any others out there like me. I had gone through the program by myself, but felt that I wasn't really getting it. So, I went through it again with the coaching program. That helped a little, but I had a BIG "growth spurt" just at the end of it, ...
