My two cents is that it isn't the food/alcohol/caffeine bringing on your anxiety, it is your reaction to how those things make you feel....i think that is where the difference lies. Eating crap food makes everyone feel a bit more crappy, alcohol does what alcohol does, and chocolate and coke give a ...

I've made recent progress in trying to get back on the CBT train and actually do the work rather than just understand the process. Also, recent postings here have refocused me. I think all this is beginning to pay off: 1. I've slept soundly start to finish two nights in a row. I've had no true panic...

I haven't done Lucinda's program although I enjoy the message board and have read some of her stuff. I've been in CBT since January, got significantly better in the spring, and then back slid in June when I ended up in quite a bad work situation. I'm trying to come out of this now. I feel like my th...

I've done really well for weeks but had a little episode on Friday...kids were out of town and wife was working. I felt desperately out of control on my own and needed a "safe person". I haven't quite had this before so it surprised me and was quite intense. How do I make myself my own safe person? ...

My panic started 8 months ago. Did CBT but didn't practice what was preached and still some general anxiety and some panic. Recently, much better...panic yesterday but first time in 4 weeks. General anxiety much better as following CBT guidelines hard. Therapist just said "perhaps we put you on 5mg ...

Panic started 8 months ago. Went right into CBT. Did exposure and all homework...model student. But still left with anxiety and occasional sleep issues...I think because when CBT stopped I stopped. Back on with therapist, refocused and re-energized. Got out of a bad work situation, been really posit...

Depersonalization is just a trick of the mind....you've told it enough times that this can't be happening to you that it is now responding if this isn't you. Simply one day saying "I can ignore this" won't stop it....you have to keep saying it and break the conditioning. I can assure you that you ar...

jmm84: What you are describing is "depersonalization" rather than spacey or unreal feelings. The spacey and unreal feelings can happen during a panic attack due to all the hormones and changes in blood flows. Depersonalization is a side product of anxiety in many people. We all know what anxiety is....

DMP720: Listen to yourself: "I have a hard time with enclosed spaces and no way to get out". You do have a way to get out, the same way you got in: the door. I am not criticizing as when I am anxious or panicky enclosed spaces get to me. But when I walk in one I often say things like the following: ...
