Its been a while since I've been here. And a while since I've listened to the tapes. I got up to session 6 or 7 I think. At that time, back in August I'd found out I had breast cancer. I had a double mastectomy (cancer was in right breast, had left one done as precaution). The doctors all said it wa...

Well, I'm home from the hospital. I actually got home Thursday evening. I had my bi-lateral mastectomy on Tuesday. Only the right breast had cancer, but wanted to do both breasts to avoid having to worry about the other one, which I would have been doing every day. The surgeon said the surgery could...

Okay. Tomorrow morning (7/29) I go into the hospital for my double mastectomy. At the moment I'm writing this, I'm not really very anxious. I know I'm doing what's right for me. Even though only one breast shows cancer, I don't want to keep worrying about the other one. My life is more important tha...

Surgery has been delayed. Apparently, when having a scheduled procedure, the hospital requires insurance or payment up front. Only in an emergency room situation do they bill you later. The surgery will be $5,500. The anesthesia will be $800. So I have to have $6,300 up front. I don't have that. I w...

I've been reading a lot of posts from different breast cancer forums and it all varies. There are a few posts from people who have had the bilateral mastectomies, and been out of the hospital with in six or seven hours. Some had to stay for two or three days. I guess it all depends on the individual...

I'm going in for a double mastectomy this Friday. I could have opted for just a lumpectomy with radiation, but the constant wondering if it was going to come back or show up in the other breast would have me back in panic mode in no time. Even though scientific study is inconclusive and shows no gre...

I also know what my mother (adoptive) went through. She had breast cancer, though she had found a lump and put off doing anything about it for a while. What I have I don't think is even a lump yet. I couldn't feel anything. My mother opted for just having the lump removed. She seemed fine for some t...

Thank you all for the support. Its much appreciated. Right now, and this might sound odd, but my anger isn't always directed at the fact that I have cancer. Its directed at the fact that if I have to make payments now (my hospital does have financial aid programs, but I'm not sure if I'll qualify, t...

I wouldn't trust anyone else taking my animals. I'd be more worried about them being with someone else. And they wouldn't trust anyone. My dog is shy around strangers. And he's a Great Dane. So most people would be afraid of him. I don't know of any local financial aid. We have Medicaid here, but I ...

Okay. I'm trying to remain calm. I had a biopsy of a spot my routine mammogram found in my right breast last week and it came back positive. I have breast cancer. My doctor said its been caught very early and is treatable. This should make me feel better but it isn't. Just the fact that its there at...
