I am in week 2 and am doing a great job with daytime panic. I haven't had an attack in two days!!! Hooray!!!

My question is about night time panic. I wake up in the middle of the night with my heart pounding and adrenaline pumping. I can calm myself down, but I just feel like I'm not getting good sleep because of it. What is causing these spontaneous attacks? How do you get them to stop?

I am the same way. It is absolutely the most disruptive part of my current problem. Sometimes it can take me an hour or more to get back to sleep. However, since getting the program (I am in Week 2) I have found the relaxation tape immensely helpful. I bought a cheap personal CD player at Target and keep it by my bed. I have yet to take the walk to the waterfall. It is as if someone hit me over the head with a hammer.

I have the same thing happen to me during the night at times. The 6 steps help me, especially concentrating on the breathing. I think all of my worrying during the day just builds up and causes me to wake up in the middle of the night with a panic attack. Learning how to deal with our problems during the day will take care of this problem. Hang in there!
