I worry myself sick over my constant headaches and lightheadedness!! I fometimes feel like I am going to pass out any moment and that a brain tumor or something in my head is causing it!! I do not have health insurance to go to the doctors but I am scared and when I tell people they say its either TMJ or anxiety. My theory, its a brain tumor or I am going to have a stroke or I have some kind of blood clot in my head ........... the list goes on. I am so worried about it. Sometimes I feel like I can't breathe in because its like I have a block in my throat and its nothing. Can anyone give me some advise until I get further in the program to better cope??
Dear Ethan's mommy; I think you are over thinking, which will drive you crazy. Relax. You haven't passed out, so you are fine. Even if you do, it does not mean a brain tumor. You are feeding your anxiety. Try deep breaths. I, too get excruciating migranes, and often am lightheaded. It is often stress. You are definately stressing. Try the relaxation tape. Hope you feel better soon.
I have had so many symptoms I can not begin to count. I used to always automatically think it was something serious cause "this couldnt be just anxiety". I have had tightness in my throat, like I was choking, chest pain, tingling, rapid heart rate and dysrhthmias, heart palpatations, severe headaches, dizziness and nausea..... Yes these are all symptoms of anxiety as well as feeling like passing out. Stress and anxiety can have symptoms that mimic serious illnesses. I bet if you took a poll most of us have had all or many of thes symptoms. It helps to tell myself, "It's just anxiety' and deep breathe my way through it then get busy doing something to distract myself. By doing the program you will find yourself haveing fewer and fewer of these symptoms. Keep it up and dont forget to do the relaxation breathing and positive self talk
Hello Ethans Mommy!,
I have had headaches almost everyday for about 15 years or so. Most of them are not very bad but about 4 to 7 days a month I have migraines with nauseated stomach. Some of the headaches go all the way around my head & some are in just my forehead down in to my eyes. Some feel like my head is going to explode. I have often thought it might be a stroke, brain tumor, blood clot or some other brain disease but I’m sure it’s none of those things now. In the 15 years they haven’t changed much & if it was serious I probably wouldn’t be here now. One thing that I have noticed is that I am a nervous person & I let everything in the world bother me. Loud noises & bright light will bring on my headaches & so do a lot of other things such as caffeine, alcohol & smoking. I stopped smoking (2 to 3 packs a day) & stopped most of the caffeine intake & now my headaches are not as bad or severe. I also get that foggy headed feeling now & then.
Also when I get very nervous or stressed out my throat feels like its going to swell shut but it doesn’t really its just my mind thinks it is. I did go to the Dr. for this but they couldn’t find anything wrong at all. Same thing with my heart it feels like it wants to stop or it stutters a bit (I did wear a heart monitor 2 different times) & the Dr. said it is perfectly normal for this to happen & that it will not stop beating. He said that almost everyone’s heart does this but a certain few can feel it in there chest. Also me stoping smoking & caffeine helped my heart calm down. Over eating & eating late at night made my heart do funny things also.
Anyway what I’m trying to say is that if your symptoms & mine are a lot alike & mine are cause my stress, anxiety & such & that your problem is probably the same thing. When you get the headaches try & remember what you were doing, eating or drinking at the time it started. Write it all down such as the time of day that it started, mine normally start around noon or so. If you’re still worried go to your Dr. with your concerns
I think & hope that this program will help with the anxiety & maybe stop most of my headaches & yours. Good luck & I’m sure you will be just fine.
Take Care,
Larry
