I am just finishing up week 1 of the program. I am encountering great resistance on my part in using the relaxation tape. I fear relaxing because when I relax I think too much. So I literally have to force myself to listen to the tape at least once a day. Any suggestions on how I can overcome this challenge?

Listen to it at bedtime, last thing before out with the lights.

You must, must, must and I repeat MUST continue on with the relaxation tape. Many of us that suffer from anxiety have no clue what it feels like to be totally relaxed, and once you 'feel' it and sense it, you'll be better equipped to find that place of peace. When I first started the relax tape over two years ago it was SUCH a challenge...but I continued to use it and as each day progressed I was able to get to the floating place and looked forward to "this is your time to relax" and I'd respond " yes it is". I spent many years in overdrive. Raising 4 daughters and a husband (wink), doing all the bookkeeping for our three family owned businesses, teaching fitness and health on the side. I thought it was 'productive' and that I was making a difference in this world for the better, only to find in the process my mission to save the world resulted in my destruction. I marveled at how much I could accomplish in a day, but yearned for alone time and actually found myself envious of someone in a park reading a book. NOW I have that down time and I must work it into my busy schedule. I am far more productive and am learning how to relax. In fact, as I type, I'm getting ready to listen to my relax tape and float for a bit. The kids know and say "Hey Mom's doing her relax tape - don't bother her unless the house is on fire or you're bleeding." LOL I urge you to stay the course and do as Lucinda recommends. I did the tape twice a day on days I really had a full plate.....and even worked it in when I was going to have company and found myself working around having that bit of extra time to go through it before they arrived. Just think, in a few months you'll be posting how valuable your relax tape is to you and wonder how you ever got along without it. You're many steps ahead of most of our population - who run on overdrive consistantly and end up with depleted adrenals and thyroids and wonder why they feel so crappy all the time and can't think straight. God Bless!!
