I have been taking .25mg of Klonopin going on 3 months now. I just take it in the morning because my anxiety is at its worse in the morning. The Dr. prescribed it to me in the place of xanax which I was taking 3 to 4 of them a day at .25mg. I started on Zoloft and was having a some hard side effects from it and that is why I was taking so much of the xanax. Then my Dr. switched it to the Klonopin until the zoloft got good in my system. When I went back for my check up he said I should stop taking the Klonopin every day and take it only when I need it. I am so afraid to just stop taking it.

Is anyone else on Klonopin and what is your experience with it. I am feeling better but I still have my days. The Zoloft really seems to be helping. I am just so scared to stop the Klonopin. Any advice would help soooooo much.

Thanks,
Jen

I am currently taking Klonopin as well and will just be starting the Zoloft today. (same doses as you). The Klonopin has really helped me with the panic attacks, however, I am still not able to really eat anything of substance. HE says the Zoloft should help with that. HE also said that once the Zoloft gets into my body and he can increase the dosage to something that works that weening off of the Klonopin should be easier. Is he planning on increasing your dosage at all? How long have you been on the Zoloft?

Dear Jen,

I understand your fears. However, I believe you should listen to your physician. I am not a medical professional, but I will be happy to share my experiences with Klonopin with you.

I take 1 mg of Klonopin PRN, which means as needed, up to three times per day. Let me stress the PRN - as needed - part. That means that some days, I might not take any. And I can't remember ever taking three in one day. From my experiences, taking it as needed is fine, at least for me. I allow myself to take it when I feel I need it and am thankful for the times I feel strong enough without it. Maybe thinking about it that way would work for you too.

If you are asking if it is unusual for Klonopin to be dispensed as needed, the answer is no. That is not unusual. You know your body and when you feel you need it. I try to avoid taking it for the sake of taking it. As you adjust, you should know what your body needs and if and when you need a Klonopin. Talk to your doctor about your fears and see what (s)he says.

Be well,
CC

Hi, everyone, I am taking Klonopin, 1 mg, at night, which helps with my getting a good night's sleep. I was never prescribed Zoloft. I am taking Cymbalta, 60 mg in the morning, which has been wonderful for my depression. If I have a bad case of anxiety during the day, then I can take another 1 mg of Klonopin. It sure works for me.
Best regards

Thank you everyone for replying. I think what I am so afraid of is how I will feel if I dont take it. I only take .25mg once a day for about three months now. I dont know if I should just stop cold turkey or try to ween off of it slowly. I have been taking the Zoloft for about 5 months now.

Oops I wasnt done and it posted it. Has anyone took such a low dose of the Klonopin and just kinda stopped cold turkey? I am so nervous but I DO NOT want to keep taking it. It seems to help me but I don't want to be addicted to it. Again, thank you so much for your great advice.

Love,
Jen
