I know that this topic has been discussed before; however, I feel the need to talk about it again because it is happening to me. Yes, heart flutters, skips, palpitations, whatever you want to call it. Please respond to this topic if you are having or have had these stupid things. When I feel the flutter it feels something just scared to crap out of me. Like a shot of adrenaline (fight or flight mechanism). Like many I have had all the tests including a holter monitor. I didn't have one with the monitor nor have I had one with 3 EKGS, doctors listening, etc. They just happen when I am not having tests. GO figure!!! Everything has been normal but I still have these occuring. HELP ME!!!!!!!

hi there....hey I know these feelings are scary but youve done all the right things by going to the doctor and checking things out...now you know you have no issues its only your anxiety and stress.....

The more you are aware of them the longer and more severe they become. I know it sounds too simple to be true but it is. I had these so strong for years...did exactly what you did all the tests out there and nothing. Took me a long time to realize the more distracted I got the less I noticed them.

Heart palpitations happen to EVERYONE everyday...the heart is a big muscle and it gets "out of sync" and feels tight just like your arm or your leg would. Most people dont notice them because they arent paying attention....just like as your reading this post youve been breathing but you havent been aware of it its just happening...now that I mentioned it your noticing it more and probably paying more attention to your breaths.

Its just the way our minds work. Youll find that the more you just say ok thats nothing and get up and get moving around a bit youll feel better. Remeber that heart is a muscle and needs a good work out too....so go for a walk or ride your bike and get it pumping good.....just like anything else in life the more you use it the smoother it becomes.

Try not to worry.(I know easier said than done) but the sooner you can grasp the concept that its you that brings them on by thinking about them you will be rid of them. And dont be scared when they creep back just know that these things happen just like a hiccup...and a hiccup wouldnt scare you.

Your ok.

rapid,
the same thing happened to me. and after a while i knew my doctors thought i was just crazy because they would listen to my heart and say "oh it's fine laura". the thing was, my heart was never acting up when they were listening to it. so one day i had an extra long run of these "flutters" and went to the hospital. they finally cought it on an ekg. It turned out to be pvc's (premature ventricular contractions) caused by.....you guessed it....STRESS! it is a scary feeling and i would be willing to bet you are having the same thing. my doctor reassured me it is not dangerous. some people have them all their lives. they can be caused by different things, one of the causes is anxiety, the others being a lack of potassium and something else. anyway, they just "feel" scary. it is all part of the anxiety, don't be scared :) i have had all the tests done in the world and have a strong heart they say (though it doesn't feel like it) and i've learned to control my stress somewhat and the pvc's are less but i do still have them sometimes. just take it in stride, keep doing the program, and you will be fine. easier said than done, but learn to relax and they should ease up. best of luck.
