panic disorder causing depression
I have a panic disorder and now i am developing depression which scares me so much and than i do the "what ifs" like what if i am depressed forever and will never feel happy again. etc.. im curious to know if my depression is caused by my panic disorder and if i control my panic disorder will my depression go away? has anyone ever felt this way and overcome this? I need encouraging words /-:
"Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)"
I am new to this as well, and I feel the same way. which one is causing which. but if you think about it, if you have a panic attack, you beat yourself up afterwords for being __________(fill in the blank) which only brings you down and makes you feel depressed. So I think if you can reassure yourself like the program says too, then after the attack you feel less mad or upset or angry at yourself and a little less depressed.

Hi there Holly!
I think you just started the program recently? When I started the program I was experiencing anxiety/panic and even depression for a time until I learned to use the 6 steps and self-talk. Then gradually all those symptoms passed. I hope you will stick with it and give the program a chance.
I wanted to tell you that today I was all ready to take that fearful drive on the highway to the first exit...then my car acted up and my companion thought I shouldn't do it today just to be safe. Well I almost made it and at least gave it an honest try. Now I have to psyche myself up all over again! Are you still afraid to drive the freeways?
Where in the program are you or have you started? Keep going..you can do it and you'll see that it does work!
Hugs
Barbara
