I claim victory over anxiety, eventhough I still struggle with scary thoughts. I would love to encourage others AND to be encouraged by others about you deal with them.

When a scary thought enters my mind i try my hardest to dimiss it right away by telling me these thoughts aren't true and they will not hurt me it is only part of my anxiety and these thoughts will subside. And then i try to do something active to get my mind off of whatever i may obsessing over at the moment..

I have recently started the program, and I used some of the advice learned today. I kept repeating "don't fear the fear" over and over today when I went to the grocery. It helped me through it, and while nervous I didn't have a panic attack. Maybe that will work for me, maybe not. This stuff is all new to me, hell I just went to Rome in September. My attacks have only worsened in the past month to where it's hard to leave the house.
But repeating that phrase helped me. I hope that helps a bit....

Hi Can't be Beat:

I also feel that the physical symptoms of anxiety are much better since starting the program...but like you...the obsessions of scarey thoughts are tough for me to conquer. I listen to the session on obsessive scarey thoughts alot, I am learning to accept these thoughts as another manifestation of anxiety and as long as I give them the power...they will continue to bother me. I am trying to accept them, go with them, allow them to be there in my mind and continue past them and go about my business. I continuously feed myself positive thoughts daily and I know like the panic attacks...these will also subside. It takes work, but I'm willing to put the time into it for peace of mind.

I hope knowing you are not alone helps....take care.

Lynn
