Do any of you ever feel overly "aware" of your penis? I've been feeling this for a few weeks now. I have OCD (mainly "O"), so I've also been having some violent thoughts about it, too. So far, they're not freaking me out, but the "awareness" is annoying. If you have any ideas how to be less aware that would be great.

HI Christian. Although I have not had this particular thought or feeling, we know it comes from overly-sensitive, over-worked nerves that causes any sensation or awareness regardless of where it is scalp, stomach etc. OCD is exactly what it says, OBSESSIVE! Obsessive thinking, over-and-over, a thinking that drives us to checking and rechecking the lock on the door. I used to be so controlled by obsessive thinking, but now I control it and have even gotten rid of a great deal of it.
Read your workbook, stay in it and read it again because we always miss something the first time. The program has very useful tools, now it is time to put them to use. It's time we are in control of the thinking process, not the other way around!
Also you might want to find some books (several titles) by Dr. Claire Weekes. great information!
Take care,
Rod

Rod, how did you get rid of/control the obsessive thinking? Because I'm more O in the OCD as well. I mean, I'll lock a door and instead of doing one check I'll check it four times. I mean, rationally I know that if it was locked the first time, it's still going to be locked a second later. The OCD drives me batty, because when I rationally look at some of the rituals I do it's silly and repetitive. And OCD is tiring too. Having to do things so many times over and over again. I'm just starting week 2 tomorrow, so I'm looking for advice from everyone that's willing to share!
