Hi-

Is anyone else sending their kids off to a summer camp this year? I have two kids going off today (and 2 left at home) and I feel the butterflies in my tummy FOR them.

I know it's good for them to test our their own wings, and I know that it won't be easy. I think my tenderheartedness is feeling particularly for one child who is a bit apprehensive.

Just wondering if there was anyone like me out there.

Hi newrunner:
Those butterflies meant you were probably also EXCITED for them, too. They are going to have a lot of fun. Is it an overnight camp? My boys are 5 and 9, and are in different camps over the summer because I work. They started a new one yesterday, and it was hard on the little one. He tends to be more anxious and overwhelmed by new situations, and I felt SO GUILTY after dropping him off and making him go through that! But you know what? When I picked him up, he had so much fun, and he made a friend (even though he couldn't remember his name), and I thought that this is a REALLY good experience for them. He will be faced with new situations and new classrooms every year at school, and I was able to congratulate him and say I knew he would do so well. And now, when school starts I can remind him that the first day of school is a lot like the first day of camp...new teachers, lots of new kids, but once you get through the first day, you are a lot more comfortable. Keep us posted!
