I also felt this way many times before going through the program. Unless you dr. tells you overwise- It's Your Breathing. Practice the 2-4 breathing until you can do it without thinking. Whenever you get even a tiny body symptom that could lead to more...jump in with the breathing technique on the back of the very first flashcard. Don't forget the counting as you do it-much more effective when you add this.
Best regards as you go through the program, Carolyn

I get panicky at church if I have to sit down, so lately if/when I go, I try to stand in the back of the room near the door so I can escape if necessary. The last time I went to church, I actually did pass out. I fell right onto the floor and they had to call a nurse. I learned my lesson though; make sure that if you're standing, your knees aren't locked! Move around a little bit and focus on breathing; 2 in and 4 out and you should be fine. It also helps if you take a bottle of water with you. I find that when I feel like I'm going to pass out, it's because I'm also a bit dehydrated.

Dear Cosmic,
Are you sure that is was a panic attack that made you pass out??? I had panic attacks and agoraphobic for 21 years, and I never fainted...
This could be a very scary scenario for one who has panic attacks...This is the very first time that I have ever heard anyone passing out from panic attacks...God Bless...

I think it was a combination of standing for 45 minutes with my knees locked, being a little dehydrated since it was first thing in the morning and feeling anxious. One of my biggest fears now is passing out, so I try to make sure I have a bottle of water with me every where I go and I try not to stand in one place for too long.

Passing out was what caused my whole phobia to start! It was 30 years ago, I was 18 and worked ina highly stressful environment and drank tons of coffee. I didnt feel good so I went for a walk it was a beautiful day in May, as I was walking on a busy street, I felt very dizzy and felt like I was going to fall..I managed to open the door of the restaurant and the man caught me..but everyone looked at me like I was nuts. I actually did blackout for about 30 seconds and it was because of the stress/coffe, etc..it was PHYSICAL.
But after that I was terrified to walk on the street, take the bus, etc alone for fear of passing out and being alone. It also extended into staying in my house alone too.
I know I wil never pass out from panic alone, but thats what a phobia is...an illogical thinking pattern.
Im hoping this course will help me once and for all.
